This position is work at home. Work schedule expectations offer some flexibility with a combination of day and consumer hours.

You'll enjoy the flexibility to telecommute* from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Making outbound calls to assess patient's current health status

  • Identifying gaps or barriers in treatment plans

  • Interacting with Medical Directors on challenging cases

  • Providing patient education to assist with self - management

  • Coordinating care for members

  • Encouraging members to make healthy lifestyle changes

  • Documenting and tracking findings

  • Educating members on disease processes

  • Encouraging members to make healthy lifestyle changes

  • Making post - discharge calls to ensure that discharged member receive the necessary services and resources

  • Utilization management through evaluating appropriateness and efficiency of requested health care services, procedures, and cancer treatments under the provisions of the applicable health benefits plan

This position will require active and unrestricted Nursing licensure in multiple US States. Selected candidate must be willing and able to obtain and maintain multiple state licensure. (Application fees and filing costs paid for by UHG)

Required Qualifications:

  • Current, unrestricted RN license in the state of residence

  • 3 years of recent Oncology experience in a Hospital setting, Acute Care, Direct Care experience or experience as an Oncology Telephonic Case Manager for an insurance company

  • Recent Chemotherapy administration experience

  • Multiple state licensure (in addition to Compact License if applicable) or ability to obtain multiple state nursing licenses required

  • Computer proficiency, to include strong data entry skills and the ability to navigate a Windows environment

  • Access to high speed internet from home and a dedicated workspace for home office set up

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BSN

  • OCN Certification

  • Chemo Administration Certification

  • A background in managed care

  • Case or disease management experience

  • Experience / exposure with discharge planning

  • Certified Case Manager (CCM)

  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) skills

  • Computer proficiency, to include strong data entry skills and the ability to navigate a Windows environment

The schedule for this position is Monday - Friday from 8am - 5pm, Central Standard Time. Primary Responsibilities: * Perform initial and concurrent review of inpatient cases applying MCG criteria for approval and sending to Medical Directors if review is necessary for determining an adverse determination * Discuss cases with facility healthcare professionals to obtain plans-of-care * Collaborate with UnitedHealthcare Medical Directors on performing utilization management * Participation in discussions with the Clinical Services team to improve the progression of care to the most appropriate level * Consult with the Medical Director as needed for complex cases and make appropriate referrals to sister segments * Apply clinical expertise when discussing case with internal and external Case Managers and Physicians * Identify delays in care or services and manage with MD * Follow all Standard Operating Procedures in end to end management of cases * Obtain clinical information to assess and expedite alternate levels of care * Facilitate timely and appropriate care and effective discharge planning * Participate in team meetings, education discussions and related activities * Maintain compliance with Federal, State and accreditation organizations * Identify opportunities for improved communication or processes * Participate in telephonic and in-person staff meetings * Plan for MCG Certification * Build and maintain relationships * Gather clinical information to assess and expedite care needs * Maintain appropriate and accurate documentation You'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.
