The OHSU Knight Cancer Institute, Division of Hematology & Medical Oncology is seeking Advanced Practice Providers who will provide clinical management of patients in various outpatient settings within the Division of Hematology & Medical Oncology.
Function/Duties of Position
The purposes of these roles are to:
Provide clinical management of patients in Hematology & Medical Oncology; Assure a coordinated, effective, high quality, and efficient care process; Use an interdisciplinary team approach to the care of patients; Work collaboratively with clinic management on process improvement projects; Provide education to colleagues, staff and students, as needed.

CHH2 Infusion Unit:
Summary: This APP will provide oversight of the infusion unit, responding to acute infusion reactions and urgent medical issues. Additionally, they will see up to four same day/scheduled patients in our infusion clinic.
Schedule: 7:00 am to 6:00 pm, weekdays, weekend, and holidays included.
Outpatient Genitourinary (GU) APP:
The GU APP manages patient care for genitourinary cancers which include the following: Prostate, renal cell carcinoma, bladder, testicular, and penile cancers. Treatments for these various cancer types have a broad range including hormonal therapy, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, oral targeted therapies, and radio pharmaceuticals. The APP is also responsible for managing side effects from treatments and seeing patients on clinical trials. This APP will also attend research meetings to discuss trials and clinical trial patient related issues. Additionally, this APP may intermittently provide oversight of the infusion unit, responding to acute infusion reactions and urgent medical issues.
Schedule: Four 10-hour days per week. Schedule to be determined upon hiring.
Outpatient APP with focus in gastrointestinal (GI) oncology :
We are currently seeking a dedicated and skilled Advanced Practice Provider to join our GI Oncology team. This vital role involves providing specialized healthcare to patients with gastrointestinal cancers and collaborating closely with a team of oncologists and other medical professionals. This is an outpatient position in a clinic on the South Waterfront of OHSU campus. The position would be for clinic coverage 4 days per week (schedule to be decided depending on clinic need at time of hire) with 10% of time devoted to involvement in clinical research. This is part of a growing clinic that involves multiple GI oncologists and two other advanced practice providers.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including medical histories and physical examinations
Develop and implement patient-centric treatment plans under oncologist supervision
Educate patients and families about treatments and care strategies
Coordinate patient care across various services
Manage follow-up care and monitor therapy side effects
Participate in team discussions about patient treatment options
Stay updated with the latest GI oncology advancements
Triaging and managing patient's symptom or care coordination questions by phone or MyChart message
See maximum 12 patients per day, generally 30 minute visits
Prior experience in oncology or gastroenterology is preferred.
Outpatient APP with focus in Bone Marrow Transplant/Hematologic Malignancies:
The OHSU Blood & Marrow Transplant (BMT) Program is a large program experiencing significant growth and is pursuing the recruitment of APPs with a record of providing high quality clinical care. This is an extraordinary opportunity to join this highly dynamic environment, inclusive of robust programs in blood and marrow transplantation, hematologic malignancies, and the emerging field of cellular immunotherapy.
The BMT APP independently performs procedures, such as:
Bone marrow biopsy and aspirations, skin biopsies, lumbar punctures, ommaya taps and administration of intrathecal chemotherapy.
Provides direct care of patients prior to and after hematopoietic cell transplants and cellular therapy procedures.
Manages infectious, hematopoietic, renal and dermatologic complications of treatment and disease with a multidisciplinary team.
Participates in enrolling and managing patients on clinical trials.
Schedule: Four clinic days per week, between Monday
Required Qualifications
Nurse Practitioner:
Current and active Nurse Practitioner license for the state of Oregon
State of Oregon Nurse Practitioner Prescriptive Privileges
DEA certificate
ANCC (or equivalent) certification
Physician Assistant:
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Strong clinical skills, with the ability to work autonomously and collaboratively
Excellent communication skills
Commitment to providing empathetic, patient-focused care
Preferred Qualifications
2+ years of APP experience in oncology
Experience working in research and with experimental therapeutics
Experience with EPIC and Beacon
Exposure to clinical trial research
