We are currently seeking an Environmental Field Technician to join our growing team!

Position Overview:

We are currently seeking on-call, part time, nights and weekend team members to work on the Portland Maine Waterfront. This job is perfect for college students, retirees, those looking for experience in the marine environmental field or if you are looking for some extra income and don't mind working on-call hours which could include nights and weekends. With the required qualifications, this position can also be a good training ground for other opportunities at NRC.

To be able to work on environmental team tying up ships and letting ships go (Tie UP/Let Go) on days, nights and weekends down on the Portland Waterfront. Tasks would include but may not be limited to; basic ship tie up, booming in ships using a 20 ft work boat, docking and at times marine work when needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Correct completion of all job-specific, employee related NRC paper work including Timesheets, Daily Work Reports, Driver's Logs and Daily Tailgate Safety Meeting Forms.

  • Ability to respons immediately and be in transit to the Portland Waterfront within one hour of Ship notification.

  • Ability to perform heavy lifting and carrying (up to 50 pounds); Bending, stooping, shoveling and other physically demanding tasks as needed.

  • Ability to follow directions; read/speak and understand English; read and understand common danger placards / labels and hazardous warning literature including site safety plans.

  • The ability to safely drive and perform safety checks on all vehicles for which licensed.

  • Must be able to understand and comply with company and client safety standards.

  • Ability to perform work under sustained hours, uncomfortable weather conditions and rough terrain.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

We will provide on-the-job training

  • Requires High School or GED (or equivalent reading, writing and reasoning skills)

  • Marine experience, boat experience, OSHA 40 and TWIC card a plus

Successful completion of a pre-employment background and substance screening process including, but not limited to, employment verification's, criminal search and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) search as well continued verification's throughout employment to ensure that all records meet company policy standards.
