Job Summary:

Set up banquets and serve food and/or beverages in a friendly, courteous and professional manner according to PM Hotel Group high standards of quality.

Summary of Essential Job Functions:

  • Set up banquet room as instructed by supervisor, to include linen, service ware and glassware.

  • Attend roll call meetings before events to learn function particulars, including guest and hotel expectations.

  • Greet guests and respond to requests in a friendly and courteous manner.

  • Serve the food and/or beverage in the order and to the expectation of the supervisor to ensure consistency throughout the banquet. Promptly remove dishes as guests complete each course and/or meal at the end of the meal or function.

  • Abide by all state, federal and corporate requirements pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages.

  • Replenish beverages as necessary, and check with guests for overall satisfaction.

  • Once banquet is complete, reset banquet room according to supervisor's specifications to ensure the readiness of the room for the following function.

  • Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.

  • Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.

Abilities Required:

Must have the ability to communicate in English. Self-starting personality with an even disposition. Maintain a professional appearance and manner at all times. Can communicate well with guests. Must be willing to "pitch-in" and help co- workers with their job duties and be a team player. Must have basic knowledge of food and beverage preparations, service standards, guest relations and etiquette. Knowledge of the appropriate table settings and service ware. Ability to comprehend and apply written product labeling instructions to enable the safe application of products and processes within the hotel. Ability to remember, recite and promote the variety of menu items. Ability to transport up to 30 lbs. through a crowded room on a continuous basis throughout the shift. Ability to operate beverage equipment, e.g. a coffee maker.

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • As Food & Drink Enthusiast, must be friendly, energizing, positive and caring in all core aspects of the Canopy culture as defined

  • Previous banquet server experience preferred

  • Creative, current on food and industry trends.

  • Physical Aspects of Position (includes but are not limited to):

  • Walking and standing throughout shift

  • Occasional lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs.

  • Frequently required to use hands

As a Bartender, you would be responsible for preparing beverages and serving beverages and/or food to guests in the hotel's continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest service and financial profitability. Specifically, you would be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards: * Greet guests and respond to guest inquiries and requests in a timely, friendly and efficient manner * Mix and garnish beverages according to recipe and portion control standards * Present and serve beverages to guests * Check guests for proper identification and serve alcoholic beverages to guests in accordance with federal, state, local and company laws and regulations * Accurately total, process and collect payments from guests to include, but not limited to, using the point-of-sale system, handling money, processing credit and debit cards, making change and processing gift certificates, cards and vouchers * Stock and maintain the bar to include, but not limited to, beer, wine, spirits, paper products, straws and stirrers, condiments, glassware, ice and produce * Cut, store and ensure product quality of all beverage-related perishables * Respond professionally to inebriated guests, as needed What are we looking for? EDUCATION Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or any other combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. High school diploma preferred. EXPERIENCE * Minimum of one (1) year professional bartending experience required. Additional experience preferred. * Experience in fine dining or an upscale restaurant environment preferred. * Knowledge of craft cocktails helpful, but not required. LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES Ability to obtain any government required license or certificate. Example: Food Handler's Certificate and Oregon Liquor Control Commission Permit within thirty (30) days of hire. CPR Certification and/or First Aid Training preferred. GROOMING All employees must maintain a neat, clean and well groomed appearance (specific standards available). SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities. * Must have extensive knowledge of food and beverage preparation and service of various alcoholic beverages. * Basic mathematical skills necessary to operate a cash register, make change, total guest checks, count total bank, prepare cash drops, total all other charges, and understand portion sizes as relating to pricing. * Basic English language writing skills necessary for completion of requisitions, balance sheets and vouchers. * Sufficient manual dexterity in hands in order to use a knife to make garnish, pick up glassware and bottles, scoop ice, mix drinks, and reach overhead to retrieve stock. * Ability to read, speak and understand the English language in order to communicate with guests and take orders. * Ability to remember, recite and promote the variety of menu items. * Ability to operate a keyboard and point of sale procedures to pre-check an order and close out a check. * Ability to stand and work in confined spaces for long periods of time.
