Job Responsibilities
Implements strict adherence to all safety, environmental, NERC compliance, and Facility rules and regulations to protect employees, the public, and the Facility equipment
Performs Inspection of Watch (IOW), surveillance rounds, on each system
Operates and maintains the combined cycle electric power generating Facility equipment with minimal guidance
Continually checks all phases of the operation for difficulties or irregularities, troubleshooting as necessary
Inspects, adjusts, and controls all power production, auxiliary and Facility equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
Reads meters, gauges, or automatic devices to record data such as temperature of equipment, vibration of equipment, hours of operation, and fluid levels
Performs water chemistry analysis on HRSG, Auxiliary Boiler and Water Treatment
Adjusts water chemistry to maintain proper ranges by controlling chemical feed and/or blowdown rates
Works with OMTs and water treatment vendor to properly monitor overall chemistry program
Operates demineralized water system in accordance with OEM (original equipment manufacturer) specifications and plant procedures and monitors demineralized water to ensure quality is within acceptable limits
Maintains equipment by tightening fittings, replacing valve packing, gaskets, filters, valves, and gauges
Actively participates in the Facility's preventive and corrective maintenance programs
Utilizes the Facility's computerized maintenance management system (CMMS)
Identifies and resolves Continuous Emissions Monitoring System (CEMS) problems
Assists in calibrations and gas cylinder replacement and takes action to prevent environmental excursions
Perform general housekeeping and cleaning, including improvement of the appearance of all areas within the Facility and Control Room
Participates in capital improvement projects and/or major program responsibilities as assigned by management
Coordinates purchasing with appropriate personnel and vendors to achieve timely repair of equipment
Responsible for ordering chemicals through established vendors
Performs Lock Out-Tag Out of Plant Systems
Responsible for opening and closing circuit breakers as required for proper system operation and electrical isolation
Outage planning and scheduling involvement
Assists with development of O&M procedures, and the training of Facility personnel
Assists with performing Root Cause Analysis of failures
Operates heavy equipment such forklifts
Reads, understands, and complies with all regulatory procedures and Facility safety programs
Follows all plant environmental permits
Maintains journals, logbooks, shift turnovers, and various other reports

Required Skills / Knowledge
Demonstrated knowledge of all facets of power plant operations, including but not limited: to Heat Transfer, Fluid Flow, Electrical Theory, and Water Chemistry.
Demonstrated ability to make competent decisions in emergencies.
Capable of writing operating procedures, work requests, and written records.
Must have good verbal and written communication skills.
Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite of products, including Outlook, SharePoint, Teams, Word, and Excel.
Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical one-lines, logic drawings, technical manuals, and P&IDs.
Will write routine reports, solve practical problems, and clearly communicate tasks and needs, and training of other personnel.
Intermediate level of knowledge of mechanical, instrumentation, and electrical equipment. Typically gained from On-the-Job-Training (OJT) or formal education.
Ability to identify and diagnose problems associated with mechanical, instrumentation and electrical equipment.
Adept at troubleshooting and diagnosing problems with mechanical and electrical equipment, with the ability to apply a resolution in a timely fashion.
Prior experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
Mechanical and electrical aptitude, including the ability to perform preventive and corrective maintenance on Facility equipment, and to operate maintenance shop equipment.
Experience
Two (02) to Four (04) years related power plant or industry experience and/or training; or a combination of experience and/or education preferred.
Knowledge of advanced technology combustion turbines, steam turbines, single shaft arrangements and commissioning experience is preferred but not required.
Power Plant Control Room Operator experience is a plus.
Experience with General Electric (GE) MARK VIe DCS (Control System) is a plus.
Education Requirements
High School diploma or equivalent required.
Education in power generation, mechanical maintenance, electrical maintenance, or instrument and controls is a plus. (Usually associated with Associates Degree, Trade School, or Military Training).
Physical Requirements
Ability to do walking, reaching, climbing, and lifting (up to 50 pounds).
Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
Must be willing to work a 12-hour rotating shift and be available to work for call-ins and overtime as needed.
