Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Establish and communicate the calendars for Iterations and Program Increments (PIs)

  • Facilitate PI Planning readiness by fostering the preparation of Vision and Backlogs, and through Pre-and Post-PI Planning meetings

  • Facilitate the PI planning event

  • Summarize Team PI Objectives into Program PI Objectives (the RTE) and publish them for visibility and transparency

  • Assist tracking the execution of features and capabilities (see Metrics)

  • Help manage risks and dependencies

  • Escalate and track impediments

  • Provide input on resourcing to address critical bottlenecks

  • Encourage collaboration between teams and System and Solution Architects/Engineering

  • Facilitate System Demos and Solution Demos

  • Coach leaders, teams, and Scrum Masters in Lean-Agile practices and mindsets

  • Manages team development; very active in the mentoring of members of the PM community; may have direct management responsibility of PMs.

  • Help lead the team to identify and implement continuous process improvements

  • Responsible for all release train metrics reporting

  • Partner with other Omnichannel release trains to coordinate release, dependency, and risk mitigation strategies

Job Specific & Technical Skills & Competencies

Manages team development, very active in the mentoring of members of the PM community, may have direct management responsibility of PMs. Charged with mid-Project recovery of at risk Projects. Recommends rescoping, postponement, or cancellation as needed. Provides substantive feedback to organizational learnings regarding improving Project Management execution.

This role has exposure to all aspects of the Travelers organization. This individual will be accountable for leading one of the Omnichannel Agile Release Train through each release and championing the SAFe/Agile methodologies. The Omnichannel RTE primary focus is as a servant leader facilitating program-level execution, removing impediment, identifying & mitigating risks and dependencies, and driving continuous improvement. All of your time will be spent with awesome people on the shared mission to create the digital insurer of tomorrow.

Education, Work Experience & Knowledge

Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred. 9 years of project management experience preferred. 3 years of experience managing others and/or project teams preferred.

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent required. 5 years of project management experience required.
