Job Description

Omni Care Interns are provided a summer internship opportunity that will result in acceptance into our LID (Leader in Development) program at the end of the summer season based upon performance. The OCI Recreation Supervisor is responsible for leading and overseeing Kidtopia and Pool personnel including camp counselors, lifeguards, pool attendants, guest service agents, and trainers.

Responsibilities

include the following:

  • Ensures that all Kidtopia, Pool, and Athletic Club operations are in accordance with La Costa Resort and Spa policies, procedures and standards of conduct.

  • Monitor the pool deck for safety, cleanliness and guest needs.

  • Firmly enforce rules on the pool decks and slides with an appropriate hospitality demeanor.

  • Assist and perform all functions in the Recreation department.

  • Advise concierge, conference services and other appropriate departments of activities.

  • Check-in guests to the pool areas.

  • Follow up calls to clients and vendors to confirm requested activities.

  • Turn in master billing charges to Accounting, charge guests as appropriate.

  • Create and seek out new ideas for activities and resort programming.

  • Ensure that children are well supervised in a safe environment.

  • Keep inventory of all recreation supplies and submit an order for supplies when needed.

  • Ensure all activities are performed in a safe manner and all safety procedures are followed.

  • If necessary, direct supervision and activities with children is required.

  • Assist Director of Activities in preparing annual budget and monthly forecasting.

  • Flexible in working various entry level service positions within the property.

  • Position will incorporate at least one rotation between job functions either within the same department or in another department (ex: front office, housekeeping, various food and beverage outlets, events, pools, recreation. Additional jobs/departments/roles may be added based on business needs

  • Attend to and anticipate guest's needs.

  • Demonstrate adaptability and flexibility in scheduling.

  • Demonstrate excellent teamwork.

  • Attend Omni Care Internship training and enrichment seminars through the summer season.

  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.

  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Operations Leader.

  • Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • Prior recreation and/or activities experience along with supervisory skills required.

  • College degree preferred or 2 years of supervisory experience in recreation required.

  • Must be 18 years of age or older, must have excellent communication and customer service skills.

  • Positive attitude, enthusiastic and enjoys working with people.

  • At least one year hospitality or customer service experience, two years of childcare experience required.

  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.

  • Strong communication skills - both written and verbal required

  • Willingness to learn and take on different projects

  • Ability to adapt to changing environments

  • Must be able to walk, sit, stand, squat, and lean during daily business for extended periods of time.

  • Must have San Diego Food Handler's Card before first day of work.

Pay Rate: $21.90/hour
