O&M Tech Senior, Plant
Responsible for the daily operations and control of all plant processing equipment, including pumps, vessels, compressors, fans, electric motors and turbo expanders in a manner that fully supports the Company's vision and operating objectives. Starts and stops all equipment and is responsible for daily performance of the plant including recovery of NGL's and throughput, and the operation of dehydration and amine treating systems, and integrated crude oil gathering systems. Ensures that the plant is operated, within safe operating limits, and maintained in compliance with all company policies and procedures and applicable local, state and federal rules and regulations including but not limited to process safety management and OSHA regulations. Ensures the plant is set up, operated and maintained in order to maximize return on invested capital in a safe, reliable and efficient manner.
This position handles complex responsibilities related to the primary focus of job area. Proficient in a range of processes or procedures within the area of responsibility. Works under minimal supervision. May act as an informal resource for less experienced employees. Resolves most questions and problems. Refers only the most complex issues to higher levels. Fully understands principles of technical field. Identifies key issues and patterns from partial or conflicting information. May adapt procedures, processes and techniques to meet more complex requirements of the position.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Understand and utilize plant performance models to optimize plant operations.
Oversee contractors to ensure work is performed in accordance with company standards, policies and procedures (i.e., OQ Qualified and Safety Certified.)
Provide extensive technical support to the Plant Operations.
Identify and report potential maintenance and capital projects for budget forecasting to Plant Supervision.
Measure and account for fugitive emissions.
Maintain and operate more than one facility on an as needed basis.
Plan and coordinate assignments, generally involving the larger and more important projects or more than one project.
May act in liaison capacity with other departments, divisions and organizations.
Recommend changes and write procedures as required.
Participate in the testing of all safety shutdowns.
Work with Plant Supervision, Technical Specialist and Engineers to improve plant efficiency and reliability.
Prepare operating and maintenance reports, written work plans, pre-job plans and Lock-Out/Tag-Out procedures for operating plants.
Review plant P&ID's and facilities on-line drawings for accuracy and report changes to Plant Supervision.
Fill in for Plant Supervision when needed.
Training and mentor entry and intermediate-level Plant Operators.
Develop and maintain all documentation relating to Process Safety Management (PSM) and other regulatory agencies.
Participate in Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), Pre-Startup Safety Review (PSSR) and Management of Change (MOC) reviews.
Operate all processes and auxiliary equipment.
Perform troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of all plant equipment.
Perform maintenance work incidental to good housekeeping and plant upkeep.
Maintaining inventory of supplies and materials needed to perform assigned duties.
Perform inspections, repairs, and maintain plant, pipeline and compression equipment at specified operating intervals.
Identify, report and take immediate action to correct unsafe plant conditions.
Complete hot and cold work permits, entry permits for confined space and excavation and follow Lock-Out/Tag-Out procedures.
Optimize plant operating conditions as specified by management.
Read and record all plant process data as required on a daily basis.
Perform product quality control test and implement corrective actions.
Coordinate with plant maintenance technicians, contract labor, operators and other personnel regarding repairs and maintenance work performed in the plant area.
Maintain strict surveillance and enforcement of all safety and environmental regulations and procedures at all times.
Perform all safety equipment inspections as assigned.
May manage PSM guidance and procedures. May make recommendations to improve documentation and procedures.
May perform one or more multi-skilled operations, maintenance and installation duties in addition to the primary roles and responsibilities listed above. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: measurement, electronics, dehydration, treating, corrosion, pipeline, compressor, gas processing plants, amine treating facilities and regulatory compliance functions with direct guidance.
Minimum Education & Experience:
Associates Degree/Vocational Certificate -and- two (2) years' directly related experience -or- five (5) years' directly related experience.
Valid State Driver's License.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Possess and apply advanced knowledge of practices and procedures of natural gas processing and apply to daily operation of the plant and the completion of complex assignments.
Advanced knowledge in liquid measurement equipment, sampling techniques and procedures.
Ability to start and stop equipment in accordance with proper procedures.
Demonstrated advanced mechanical and technical aptitude.
Advanced knowledge of troubleshooting and repair of all types of plant processing equipment.
Ability to influence and motivate others.
Ability to lead members or groups in the completion of daily processing activities.
Ability to effectively use a personal computer with MS Office Suite applications (Word, Excel & Outlook).
Familiar with advanced concepts, practices and procedures of natural gas processing, amine operations and crude oil systems.
Knowledge of PLC/HMI programming.
Advanced knowledge of the fundamentals of gas processing including the relationship between pressure, temperature and gas composition.
Advanced knowledge of pneumatic and electronic controls.
Demonstrated mechanical aptitude in the use of hand tools.
Ability to serve as a resource in a multi-functional environment.
Possess strong organization skills to assist with the completion of PSM and to other regulatory reporting requirements.
Strong ability to read and interpret electrical and control drawings.
Demonstrated leadership skills.
