General Summary:
Conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems. Determines computer user needs; analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls; prepares operating instructions. Ensures software standards are met.

Minimum/General Experience

  • Knowledgeable of Naval Ordnance Information Systems.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate orally and in writing.

  • Critical Thinking -- Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.

  • Knowledgeable of applicable standards.

Duties/Specialized Experience

  • Provide technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems. Solutions are imaginative, thorough, practicable, and consistent with organization objectives.

  • Knowledge of state-of-the-art storage and retrieval methods is required, as well as the ability to formulate specifications for computer programmers to use in coding, testing, and debugging of computer programs.

Requirements

  • Must have or must obtain and maintain a certification that complies with DoD 8570.01-m IAT Level I baseline certification requirements.

  • Must be a US Citizen

  • Must have a final Secret Clearance

Minimum Education

  • High School diploma with eight years of specialized experience and ten years of general experience.

Alternative Education

  • Associate's degree (in the fields described below) requires five years specialized experience and eight years of general experience.

  • Bachelor's degree (in the fields described below) requires two years specialized experience and five years of general experience.

  • Master's degree (in the fields described below) requires one year of specialized experience and two years of general experience.

Note: Degrees must be in the fields of Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or other related scientific or technical discipline.
