Work you'll do:

As a Managed Services Senior Manager, you will be responsible for coordinating teams of consultants to deliver across multiple client managed services engagements with excellence. You will lead and drive sales of AMS engagements in the Oil, Gas & Chemicals industry. You will lead teams providing complete production application support and continuous improvement services for custom and COTS applications found in the Oil, Gas & Chemicals industry.

Senior Managers are expected to contribute to the firm's growth and development in a variety of ways, with responsibilities including:

  • Engagement Management: managing engagement risk, project economics including planning and budgeting, managing accounts receivable, defines deliverable content, ensures buy-in of proposed solutions from top management levels at the client

  • Business Development: develops and maintains contact with top decision makers at key clients, organizes and leads pursuit teams, participating and leading aspects of the proposal development process, drives proposal pricing strategy.

  • Delivery Management: work directly with clients to ensure the quality delivery of services, enhance customer satisfaction, define and advance performance metrics (KPIs), resolving escalated conflicts, provide feedback to team, drive continuous improvement opportunities,

  • Practice Development & Eminence: development of solutions and methodologies, development of "thoughtware" and "point-of-view" documents, public speaking and publication in industry periodicals.

  • People Development: performs role of counselor and coach, provides input and guidance into the firms staffing process, and actively participates in staff recruitment and retention activities.


  • Minimum of 10 years of consulting experience in the Oil, Gas & Chemicals industry

  • Proven application management delivery experience in a consulting environment

  • Established depth Functional/technical proficiency with SAP, Oracle, or custom application systems

  • ITIL Framework understanding and knowledge, ITIL V3 Foundations Certification or higher preferred

  • Experience collaborating and developing client relationships in a consultative environment, developing new opportunities with clients, and identifying engagement follow-on opportunities for continuous improvement

  • Project scoping, estimating and planning experience

  • Experience supporting the sales cycle, including but not limited to responding to Requests for Proposals, presenting at Orals, and contributing to the creation of Statements of Work

  • Excellent interpersonal and networking skills; along with strong communication skills both verbal and written

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent; Advanced degree preferred

  • Able to travel 100%

The primary responsibility for the Applications Manager – Upstream Oil & Gas is to provide multifunctional leadership and strategic direction for the upstream oil and gas product line focused around process chemistry, solving customer issues, and proper product application. A qualified person will perform/direct the work necessary to develop, create and apply the products for this application area. As well, this role will have responsibility to drive the success of any new product introductions, deliver focused internal and external training and facilitate continuous improvement initiatives. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: * Ensure a safe work environment, promotes a safety culture and actively works to achieve goal zero * Identify opportunities for training and develops curriculum accordingly * Assist leadership in development of training modules or internal training events with the ability to educate and train both the sales force and customer * Train Field Managers and below on processes as well as mentor junior personnel on his/her area of expertise and industry best practices * Support commercialization and deployment efforts and field trials. Will often write call-reports detailing activities of site visits * Provide technical support and interface as an expert on company technology and understanding customer processes * Work with the field organization to identify and capture the impact of company programs/applications/systems in clear financial terms * Work with field organization to identify needs, problems, determine effective solutions and help document specifications * Support customer jeopardy situations * Provide onsite audit support for pre-bid technical qualification including laboratory testing, qualification and process flow documentation * Identify and provide basic input on industry-unique needs for sales tools, technical materials, sales collateral, media and other promotional materials and campaigns * Review technical recommendations and compare to industry norms and best practices including chemistry applicability, dosage levels and application methodology * Understand and utilize best practices in daily activities and participate in technical audits for both present and prospective customers * Design technical audit templates as needed * Assist in development and execution of field trials * Provide technical analysis of test trial work * Support case studies as directed including data collection or development around new or existing applications * Provide input to develop new technology candidates as well as support new technology deployment through presentations at technical presentations, industry conferences and in technical publications * Provide field support to account managers in the preparation of bids, proposals, and RFQ's * Follow-up with customers to ensure satisfaction and remedy any concerns or complaints * Collaborate with team in the development of new product blends * Assist with sampling, testing and product screening of RFPs GENERAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE * Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Chemistry or Technical Sciences * 5 years or more technical or industry experience * Strong verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated ability to communicate and transfer technical knowledge to others * Downstream Production chemicals product/industry technical acumen * Leadership skills to lead teams and shape/lead growth vision and marketing strategy * Innovative: Develop new ideas through collaboration and execute on creative ideas * Team oriented: Ability to motivate and work well with diverse, cross-functional teams VWS offers you a competitive compensation and benefits package, along with a dynamic work environment.
