We are seeking a Protective Services Officer that is responsible for providing basic security services to the hospital community during the assigned shift. The Protective Services Officer shall respond safely, effectively, and efficiently (SEE) to all related matters that come to his/her attention and in the performance of activities as assigned.

1.Conducts random, but frequent, patrols in his/her assigned area to detect and appropriately respond to safety and/or security issues. These patrols can be performed on foot, motor vehicle, or bicycle, as assigned.

2.Intervenes in interpersonal conflict safely and effectively to maintain order. Provides appropriate intervention and/or assistance by detaining perpetrators of criminal acts, restraining hostile or uncooperative patients, escorting belligerent visitors from the premises.

3.Conducts preliminary investigations, as appropriate and/or when requested, regarding those incidents that amount to a criminal act or any incident that requires safety/security intervention.

4.Documents, by utilizing standard departmental/hospital forms, activities and incidents that are required to be or should be recorded.

5.Conducts lock/unlock activities as required and appropriate.

6.Performs staff escorts and/or provides transportation to staff and/or visitors, as appropriate.

7.Performs vehicle assistance (jump starts, lock-outs,) as required and appropriate.

8.Enforces hospital parking policies and procedures, as appropriate.

9.Responds to internal disaster incidents and provides appropriate assistance.


Minimum education level of High School diploma. Prefer Associate's Degree from an accredited institution and/or equivalent law enforcement/fire fighting/military experience and training.

Valid Ohio Operator's License with no more than one violation and/or at-fault accident in previous two years. No more than two violations/at fault accidents in previous 3 years. Ability to read and comprehend hospital/departmental policies and procedures, criminal statutes, and regulatory publications.

Ability to successfully conduct preliminary investigations and document findings on standard departmental or hospital forms. Sufficient interpersonal skills to effectively interact with all persons, regardless of position, ethnicity, sex, age, or economic status. Sufficient interpersonal skills to consistently and equitably enforce the policies of the department and hospital and the ability to effectively intervene in interpersonal conflict.

Ability to write legibly. Officer will be required to complete the IAHSS Basic Security Officer training within the first six months of being hired at the officer's expense. Once the officer has successfully completed the training, the Security Department will reimburse the officer the cost of the test.

The American Red Cross Central and Southern Ohio Region is seeking a Regional Volunteer Services Officer to be based in either our Columbus, Dayton or Cincinnati Chapter. This is a full time salary (exempt) position and you must have a valid driver's license and be willing to travel as needed. Job Summary: This position is a critical component of the American Red Cross regional team and infrastructure. It is responsible for strengthening and growing programs and services that will meet the regional community needs within resource constraints. Develops long- and short-term program strategies and oversees implementation for large-scale single programs/services or multiple smaller-scale programs/services. Directs and oversees the work assignment and performance of staff and volunteers. Develops and executes a recruitment strategy, managing the volunteer on boarding process for the region. Ensures coordinated outreach and partnerships within the larger Red Cross organization and external constituents (e.g.: community agencies). This person will serve as a program or service subject matter expert (SME) to staff, management, volunteers and external partners. Represents the Red Cross within the assigned region for the purposes of volunteer engagement. Responsibilities: 1. Strategy: Develops growth strategy for area of responsibility. Design and implement retention strategies with departments and programs to assist with volunteer development, leadership development and managing goals and objectives. Oversees risk management issues specific to Volunteer Services. Provides oversight and maintenance of database/computer systems. Provides innovative thought leadership and shapes the knowledge base. Fiscal Responsibility: Builds financially sound, executable, data-driven business strategies in support of a program area and/or services. Staff and Volunteer Management: Provides strong leadership, develops and sets individual and team performance goals and manages/drives change.
