Job Description and Duties

Patton State Hospital, Human Resources Department is accepting applications for at least one (1) Limited Term, Full Time Office Technician (Typing). The vacancy exists in the General Services Department and is under the direct supervision of the Chief of General Services (Staff Services Manager II). A Training and Development Assignment may be considered.

The OT provides strong administrative support to the GS Department by performing a wide range of tasks, which includes: performing the duties of the Housing Coordinator by managing the On-Ground Housing program for employees and the Medical Officer of the Day (MOD) living quarters, while maintaining strict confidentiality; collects data and generates various reports and projects ensuring all deadlines are satisfied; maintains database of various records such as training, overtime, inspection sheets, IDP's, payroll, etc.; implements and maintains service agreements; and performs other duties as required involving the daily operation of the GS Department.

Candidate must have strong clerical and administrative skills such as data researching, tracking, recording, reporting, and management; ability to perform basic mathematical calculations; knowledge and experience in Microsoft Word and Excel and Outlook; exercise a high degree of independency and initiative; possess good organizational skills; the ability to communicate efficiently with hospital staff, management, and the public; and maintain good attendance.

In order to be appointed as Office Technician (Typing), candidates must be able to type at least forty (40) words per minute. Please provide a typing certificate that meets CalHR requirements (5 minutes in length & proctored):

Additional Information: The initial appointment may be up to 12 months with the possibility of extending up to 24 months. Positions filled as limited term may become permanent.

Working Conditions

Patton is a forensic psychiatric hospital and was established in 1890 and opened in 1893. DSH-Patton provides treatment to forensically and civilly committed patients within a secure treatment area. The hospital does not accept voluntary admissions.

Training and Development Information
