Job Description and Duties

This position is for a 10 month school year with eligibility for an additional 2 months to be paid by State Special School Benefits through Unemployment Insurance.

Position is also a bilingual position which requires evaluation for fluency in American Sign Language.

Under the supervision of the Assessment and Intervention Services Supervisor, the Office Technician maintains the front office for the Assessment and Intervention Services and Thrive! Assessment Services, providing clerical services such as: filing and records as well as online record management; scheduling assessments for Thrive!; ordering and maintaining assessment supplies and equipment.

  • Use ASL fluently to communicate with everyone.

  • Operate a personal computer using MicroSoft programs: Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and -Office 365; as well as other school-wide programs such as PowerSchool and SIRAS.

  • Maintain a systematic filing system that supports the efficient retrieval of records (i.e. - student files, assessment reports, IEP documents, etc.)

  • Process paperwork on purchase orders in a timely and professional manner; manage the submission, approval, and documentation processes for purchase orders and track inventory of the orders.

  • Independently answer routine questions and correspondence not requiring the supervisor.

  • Manage the submission, approval, and documentation for training (i.e. - contacting, requesting interpreters, confirming, etc.).

Reach and write English at a level required for successful job performance; meet and deal tactfully with the public, co-workers, students, parents, and visitors, either face-to-face or by telephone/videophone.

Special Requirements

  • The position(s) require(s) the ability to type at a minimum speed as designated on the Class Specifications (link available in the additional documentation section). You must obtain a valid typing certificate confirming your ability to meet the minimum typing speed, prior to being hired. Additional information regarding acceptable typing tests is available at the CalCareers.ca.gov website.

  • The position(s) require(s) fluency in the American Sign Language language. If the State of California does not have a current record documenting your fluency in this language, you will be required to successfully pass an approved language fluency test prior to being hired.
