Office Systems Technician (Roads, Bridges & Engineering)

Position Summary

Works under general supervision to establish Micro-Computer System needs, including Network systems, and procures and/or develops, tests, installs, modifies, trains in usage, administers, and maintains all software associated with Micro-Computer systems.

Pay Grade: 48

Salary Commensurate with Experience and Education

Minimum Qualifications

100% -

1.Two (2) years of experience in the business services area, system procedures analysis, information systems support, or closely related field; AND

2.Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, data science, computer programming, information technology, or related field; OR

3.An equivalent combination of related education and/or experience.

4.PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED.

Duties and Responsibilities

1.Coordinates with internal and external IT professionals, as necessary.

2.Serves as a point of contact for coworkers regarding the use of designated systems and problems; which includes analyzing issues and resolving problems quickly and efficiently as they relate to business services.

3.Maintains and prepares updates to Public Works, Roads, Bridges & Engineering's website.

4.Performs studies to determine Micro-Computer needs, evaluates results, determines the type of system(s) (single or multi-user, LAN, etc.) required, and makes recommendations to management.

5.Coordinates all activities relating to installation, operation, and maintenance of micro-computer hardware.

6.Confers with users and reviews requests for technology needs and services.

7.Procures and/or develops, tests, installs, modifies, troubleshoots, and maintains software associated with PC usage, mobile devices and apps, and hardware in a network environment, including monitoring user employee progress and program effectiveness.

8.Monitors user employee progress and program effectiveness. Administers, organizes, and conducts training and educational programs in specialized applications of PC systems. Assesses training needs and requirements, provides training when possible, and recommends outside training as required.

9.Administers the usage of Micro-Computer software products including operating systems, spreadsheets, word processors, database managers, windows, backup/restore/diagnostic utilities, and networked operating systems.

10. Prepares, updates, maintains, and creates graphic displays, databases, reports, and statistical informative maps as requested.

11. Maintains and assists in the mobile data collection of geospatial data.

12. Performs other related duties as required or directed.

KSA's -

1.Knowledge of applications systems analysis/programming activities for PC and mobile devices.

2.Ability to conduct feasibility studies on application systems.

3.Ability to develop and implement revisions to application systems.

4.Ability to develop and maintain long-term plans for software and hardware requirements for single and multi-user databases.

5.Skilled in the usage of PC software products, including operating systems, database managers, spreadsheets, word processors, backup/restore/diagnostic utilities, and networking operating systems.

6.Ability to work well with people from different disciplines with varying degrees of technical experience.
