Job duties:
As the Dorothea Dix Psychiatric Center Recruitment & Retention specialist, you will plan, develop, implement, and coordinate a recruitment and retention program. This position is also responsible for performing office and administrative work.
Essential Functions:
Reviewing employment applications to determine if the applicant meets minimum requirements.
Creating a log of employment applications to monitor the status of each applicant.
Verifying credentials, certification and/or licenses of applicants.
Scheduling interviews with the applicant and interviewer(s).
Participating in job interviews, as requested.
Sending letters to applicants informing them if they are not chosen for an interview or not chosen for the position.
Creating job advertisements.
Attending career fairs to recruit new staff.
Performing exit interviews on departing contract staff, as requested.
Completing background checks and reference checks for selected job applicants.
Backing up the Nursing Department to include overtime calling as needed.
Assisting with special projects/functions as requested.
May perform other duties as requested or required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of the principles and practices of human resources, particularly recruitment and retention.
Develop and recommend new work methods and administrative policies/procedures to improve existing work practices.
Research, compile, and analyze complex information to reach a conclusion and/or make recommendations.
Proficient knowledge of modern office practices to perform advanced administrative support tasks requiring specialized skills.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Superior customer service skills.
Computer literacy (beginner proficiency required, intermediate or advanced preferred).
Knowledge of basic mathematics.
Ability to organize data using Microsoft Excel.
Ability to stay organized and multi-task.
Ability to respond to requests for information.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Preferred: Knowledge of healthcare operations, clinical roles, and functions.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Training, education, or experience in office and administrative support work that demonstrates 1) competency in applying a solid knowledge of the principles and practices of office processes and administration functions to perform complex secretarial support tasks, and 2) the ability to use independent judgment, initiative, and discretion to make determinations on varied matters. All positions in this classification assume the qualifications of: Office Assistant I, Office Assistant II, Office Associate I, Office Associate II and Office Specialist I.
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of concepts, processes and techniques that support a successful recruitment and retention program. Previous work experience that includes recruitment and retention. Exceptional oral and written communication skills. Ability to establish and maintain effective, collaborative working relationships with staff, other State agencies, educational institutions, and community organizations. Data management skills including collecting, compiling, analyzing, and reporting data. Out-of-the box thinking and problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn new skills and teach as requested.

Dorothea Dix Psychiatric Center (DDPC) is a 69-bed psychiatric hospital serving the entire State of Maine that provides services for people with severe mental illness.
