The Waste Management Division is seeking an Office Specialist to provide customer service and secretarial/administrative support to customers and staff. The selected candidate must be able to receive visitors, answer telephone calls and emails, and have the ability to resolve and/or direct inquiries and complaints. The candidate will process incoming and outgoing mail, receive, distribute, opens, time stamp, sort and make daily mail runs to City Hall.

Coordinate appointments and arrange job interviews with prospective new hires.

Daily compose reports, input data entries, enter, update, and\or edit into computer system.

Maintain handheld radio communication with Waste employees\Supervisors.

Candidate must be able to work with minimal supervision, manage time efficiently and adjust priorities. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

VOCATIONAL/EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT:

Requires a high school diploma or GED and any combination of education and experience equivalent to satisfactory completion of one year of college education in word processing, secretarial skills, or a closely related field.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:

In addition to satisfying the vocational/education standards, this class requires a minimum of three years of full-time equivalent experience in administrative support.

SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES:

Requires a valid driver's license and driving record in compliance with City Driving Standards.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office application
