This recruitment will be used to fill one full-time, Office Specialist 2 position for the Division of Extension and Engagement and the Extension Douglas County Office at Oregon State University (OSU). This position is located in Roseburg, Oregon with the work schedule consisting of 40 hours per week, Mon

  • Fri (flexible Saturday schedule during Fair). Three office positions provide administrative support to nine educators and are customer-focused service.

This Office Specialist 2 (OS2) position is at the Oregon State University Extension Service Douglas County Office in Roseburg, Oregon. The OSU Extension Service engages the people of Oregon with research-based knowledge and education that strengthen communities and economies, sustain natural resources, and promote healthy families and individuals.

Purpose of this Position

As a team member, this OS2 provides administrative, marketing, and technical support for the OSU Extension Douglas County office as assigned. The Office Specialist 2 must know all facets of the OSU Extension Douglas County Office and is expected to independently organize and prioritize a demanding and complex workload, monitor progress, and adapt to changing needs. In addition, this OS2 should have general knowledge of database management, web-based software programs such as Canva, GoTo, CRM, interactive internet portals, and web contents maintenance software and be proficient with computer software such as or similar to Microsoft Office Suite.

What We Require

Two years of general clerical experience. One year of which included typing, word processing, or other experience generating documents; OR An Associate's degree in Office Occupations or Office Technology; OR Graduation from a private school of business with a Certificate in Office Occupations or Office Technology and one year of general clerical experience. College courses in Office Occupations or Office Technology will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.

This position requires driving a university vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the university; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a motor vehicle history check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver's license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions as per University Policy 05-030.

What We Would Like You to Have

  • Experience working with financial budgets to support annual District budget process.

  • Supervisory experience.

  • Experience creating/designing/maintaining content on web pages and social media.

  • Ability to incorporate use of web, social media, newsletter or other digital technologies in program development or outreach activities to achieve goals.

  • An understanding of information technology such as computer hardware, software, peripherals, IT devices, and software installations/upgrades to coordinate those with OSU Information Technology for off-campus locations.

Working Conditions / Work Schedule

  • Typical work hours are Monday-Friday between 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with a flex schedule during Fair weekends. This full-time position can accommodate a flexible, onsite schedule.

  • This position requires extensive periods of use of a computer.

  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull items under 50 pounds.

  • Ability to drive/travel is required to support daily operations such as running office errands, supporting programming, and making bank deposits.
