The Virginia Beach WIC program has an hourly position available to serve as the front desk associate at the Oceana WIC WIC office working 29 hours a week. The successful candidate should be a highly motivated individual who thrives in a fast paced environment and one who is able to provide administrative and technical support to the WIC program.

Provides first line service to walk-in clients requesting WIC services. Performs administrative tasks such as answering a large volume of phone calls, filing, making appointments using the WIC Crossroads computer system, greeting clients and assessing shot records. Travel to various Virginia Beach WIC sites required.

This is a restricted position which is solely funded by the WIC Federal grant, renewable annually in September. Employment is contingent on the continued availability of grant funds.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required. Working knowledge of clerical practices and office procedures.

Excellent computer skills needed. Strong interpersonal skills, customer oriented and ability to work effectively as part of a team. A strong commitment to meeting the needs of customers with high quality, timeliness and accuracy is considered essential.

Experience working with diverse cultures and backgrounds. Possession of a valid driver's license is required.

Travel to any of the four district WIC sites, located in Virginia Beach, utilizing the employee's own vehicle is also required.

Preferred Qualifications

Working knowledge of clerical practices/office procedures and experience in a medical office setting preferred.

Special Requirements

Required to maintain a valid driver's license and adhere to VDH's driver safety policy. Employment is contingent upon satisfactory results of a state and federal criminal history background check and the Department of Social Service's Child Abuse and Neglect Central Registry check, U.S. HHS IG Exclusion List check, employment reference check, and E-Verify.

The nurse will provide culturally competent direct patient care and case management services to patients seen in the Tuberculosis clinic. The nurse will administer medications and vaccines as ordered, assess response to treatment and provide education about the transmission of TB. The nurse will perform initial and continued assessment of client health status, and TB screening, based on established protocols. The nurse ensures that patients receive comprehensive, coordinated, sequenced care for the duration of TB treatment, improve delivery and coordination of services to TB patients, improve DOT adherence, and ensure completion of adequate therapy. Additional duties include, but are not limited to; conducting epidemiological investigations of cases and/or suspects the in home, clinic and community. Identification, assessment, evaluation, and follow up of individuals (and their contacts) diagnosed with communicable diseases. The nurse will also be responsible for the identification of trends in disease incidence, make recommendations and implement measures for control and prevention. Minimum Qualifications Licensure or the ability to be licensed as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia and CPR certification. Must have a valid driver's license and a reliable personal vehicle. Must possess (or be eligible for) RN licensure in Virginia, CPR certification, and valid Driver's License. Experience providing nursing services in a clinic setting. Knowledge and experience with vaccine administration. Knowledge of current nursing practices, procedures, and principles. Computer experience with word processing and data entry software Preferred Qualifications Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred. Previous public health experience preferred. Prefer applicants with demonstrated abilities to work independently, communicate effectively orally and in writing, to function as a team member, and perform nursing assessments. Experience working with adult and children of diverse cultures. Multilingual in English and one or more languages spoken in our patient population such as Arabic, Korean, Spanish, Tagalog, Vietnamese, Knowledge and experience with vaccine administration. Special Requirements Employment is contingent upon satisfactory results of a fingerprint based state and federal criminal history background check and the Department of Social Services Child Abuse and Neglect Central Registry check, U.S. HHS IG Exclusion List check, employment reference check, and E- Verify.
