The Virginia Beach WIC program has an hourly position available to serve as the front desk associate at the Oceana WIC WIC office working 29 hours a week. The successful candidate should be a highly motivated individual who thrives in a fast paced environment and one who is able to provide administrative and technical support to the WIC program.
Provides first line service to walk-in clients requesting WIC services. Performs administrative tasks such as answering a large volume of phone calls, filing, making appointments using the WIC Crossroads computer system, greeting clients and assessing shot records. Travel to various Virginia Beach WIC sites required.
This is a restricted position which is solely funded by the WIC Federal grant, renewable annually in September. Employment is contingent on the continued availability of grant funds.
High school diploma or equivalent required. Working knowledge of clerical practices and office procedures.
Excellent computer skills needed. Strong interpersonal skills, customer oriented and ability to work effectively as part of a team. A strong commitment to meeting the needs of customers with high quality, timeliness and accuracy is considered essential.
Experience working with diverse cultures and backgrounds. Possession of a valid driver's license is required.
Travel to any of the four district WIC sites, located in Virginia Beach, utilizing the employee's own vehicle is also required.
Working knowledge of clerical practices/office procedures and experience in a medical office setting preferred.
Required to maintain a valid driver's license and adhere to VDH's driver safety policy. Employment is contingent upon satisfactory results of a state and federal criminal history background check and the Department of Social Service's Child Abuse and Neglect Central Registry check, U.S. HHS IG Exclusion List check, employment reference check, and E-Verify.
