DESCRIPTION: Assist school secretaries by performing basic office duties such as answering phones, taking messages, greeting visitors, entering data, making calls, sorting mail, making copies, assisting with medical needs of students, etc. Bilingual, English/Spanish, required.

SALARY: Classified Grade E, $13.54 - $15.57 per hour to start, depending on recent relevant experience. 7.5 hours per day, Tuesday through Friday on the 9-month work schedule, paid over 12 months. Position is eligible for benefits.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Enter attendance data into the computer, run attendance reports, hand out tardy slips, and write student passes.

  • Answer office phones, take messages, provide information to callers, and greet visitors.

  • Contact absent students and call parents whose children are absent or have excessive absences and truancies.

  • Assist the secretary with mail distribution, sorting documents, and newsletters.

  • File materials and records.

  • Make copies for teachers and the Principal.

  • Assist secretary with medical needs of students, including first aid, administering medications, and assisting ill students.

  • Assist secretary with other office tasks such as collating papers, work orders, etc.

  • Perform special office projects as needed.

  • Count and organize papers to be sent home with the students and post papers on bulletin boards.

  • Type letters.May also translate letters, memos, and newsletters from English to Spanish. Prepare cum folders, white cards, and health cards for all students for each new school year.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.

  • Certification in CPR and First Aid required within 3 months of hire.

  • Ability to fluently speak, read, write, and translate in Spanish and English required.

  • Must have strong communication (verbal and written) communications skills.

  • Must have a working knowledge of a variety of technology software programs to assist with school website.

  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

  • Must be able to pass a Colorado and Federal Bureau of Investigation background check.

Position is eligible for benefits. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Provide communication translation. Duties may include document translation, phone translation and meeting translation for staff and students. * Instruct and tutor small groups and individual students. Duties may include implementing intervention programs, following teacher developed lessons, assessing students, and providing feedback to teachers and families. * Handle and support student supervision. Duties may include supervising students inside and outside in a variety of school related settings. * Provide clerical support. Duties may include copying, organizing, filing and grading document in a support of a program, a classroom or the office. QUALIFICATIONS: * High School diploma or equivalent required. * Must be able to get along with others, be flexible to change, and willing to work with multiple grade levels and teachers. * Possess excellent communication skills with a demonstrated ability to communicate with school staff, students and parents. * Passion and desire to help students improve their literacy skills and other educational skills. * Bilingual (Spanish/English) skills required. * Must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds * Must be able to pass a post offer, pre-employment physical. * Must be able to pass a Colorado and Federal Bureau of Investigation background check. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: * No experience working with children or in a classroom required. * Ability to fluently speak, read, write, and translate in Spanish and English. * Basic math, accounting skills, customer service and public relations skills. * Good personal computer, keyboarding and work processing skills. * Excellent interpersonal relations, critical thinking, problem solving and organizational skills. * The ability to manage confidentiality in all aspects of the job, manage multiple priorities, manage multiple tasks with frequent interruptions, and ability to diffuse and manage volatile and stressful situations.
