Job Description
The Graduate Studies at Texas A&M University-San Antonio are seeking motivated and responsible student workers to join our dynamic team. As a graduate assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the Graduate College, contributing to a vibrant and inclusive living and learning community. This position offers a unique opportunity to engage with fellow students, faculty, staff, and residents while gaining valuable professional skills. The work schedule will be determined based on the availability of the graduate assistant and the needs of the Graduate Studies. Flexibility in scheduling is desirable.
Responsibilities:
Front Desk Operations:
Provide a welcoming and helpful presence at the front desk.
Answer phone calls, respond to inquiries, and direct visitors appropriately.
Assist with mail and package distribution.
Maintain a clean and organized front desk area.
Administrative Support:
Assist in preparing and organizing college events, meetings, and programs.
Help with data entry, filing, and record-keeping tasks.
Support the Dean and staff in various administrative duties.
Event Coordination:
Collaborate with the staff to plan and execute special events and programs.
Assist in setting up and coordinating logistics for events within the Graduate Studies.
Communication:
Engage in call/email campaigns to assist applicants with completing applications.
Engage with graduate students to gather feedback and suggestions for improving college life.
Assist in maintaining and updating the college's social media accounts.
Create and distribute newsletters or flyers to keep the graduate community informed.
Communicate graduate studies policies and procedures effectively to the graduate community.
Maintenance and Facilities:
Report maintenance issues promptly.
Assist with room checks and inspections.
Ensure common areas are clean and well-maintained.
Safety and Security:
Promote and adhere to safety and security protocols.
Assist in monitoring access to the graduate studies office.
Report any safety concerns or incidents to the appropriate authorities.
Required Education and Experience:
Knowledge, Skills, and Ability:
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Customer service-oriented attitude.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Reliable and punctual.
Excellent computer skills.
