The Mission of Washington State Department of Corrections (DOC) is to improve public safety by positively changing lives.

Our agency is recruiting for a full-time permanent Office Manager vacancy within the Community Corrections Division. This position works for the Seattle Community Justice Center located at 1550 4th Avenue South, Seattle, WA 98134.

Under the direction of the Field Administrator, this position is the primary liaison between the physical plant and the building owner. As the point of contact for the building, you will manage building contracts, oversee security, maintain key control, approve office expenses, manage repairs of vehicle maintenance, assign offices and cubicles, serve as chair of the Seattle CJC Safety program, and establish building protocols. This position is critical to maintaining a secure and orderly multi-unit facility.

Amend: Changing Correctional Culture

DOC's partnership with Amend works to bring a health-focused approach to providing correctional staff with additional tools and resources with an emphasis on staff wellness while working to prepare incarcerated individuals and residents to become better neighbors when they return to society.

Reintegration Reimagined: DOC Launches New Community Corrections Model

iCoach (individualized, community-oriented, accountability, collaborative help) launched on March 10, 2023. This new model is backed by the most recent science and is driven by two philosophies: Community Reintegration and Enhanced Supervision. iCoach provides more support and advocacy for those within the criminal justice system earlier in their reentry process.

  • Coordinate office management and operations.

  • Approves office expenses, maintains inventory of supplies, furniture and equipment.

  • Maintains building door locks and security.

  • Prepare and approve expenses for building operations.

  • Communicate between building owner and parking lot owner.

  • Maintain building and parking lot operations as well as janitorial contracts and provide support for maintenance issues.

  • Office reports from maintenance to trainings and meetings.

  • Fleet manager for vehicles.

  • Employee commute trip reduction coordinator.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualification

  • High School diploma or equivalent.

  • Three years of progressively responsible experience in office/clerical, secretarial, or general administrative work.

  • Intermediate to expert level experience with Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and Publisher.

  • Proficient experience in SharePoint.

  • Ability to perform under pressure and high-volume workload.

  • Provide a high standard of professionalism and customer service to both internal and external clients.

  • Must be able to respond positively to/with the public.

  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks to meet internal and external deadlines.

  • Ability to support multiple staff members which include Regional Administrators, Field Administrators, Community Corrections Supervisors, Community Corrections Specialists, Community Corrections Officer's, line staff, landlord/building owners and contract staff.

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree involving major study in Business Administration or a closely related field.

  • One year of supervisory experience involving responsibility for planning, organizing, and coordinating work in a business office.

  • One year experience in state services as an Administrative Assistant 2, Human Resource Assistant 2, Data Compiler 3 or equivalent involving supervisory or office management responsibilities.

  • Additional qualifying experience may be substituted year for year for education.
