Primary Responsibilities Provide technical and logistical support to a team of Underwriters and Senior Managers to ensure the collection of required information to issue final terms and policy language; validate document terminology fits contractual needs. Responsible for creating policy related documents to ensure underwriting intentions are documented and accurately communicated to the policyholder * Build and maintain beneficial relationships with assigned clients by consulting with external key stakeholders, conducting needs analysis, researching and resolving complex requests and facilitating communication * Liaise between clients and business units by communicating client change requests and requirements to internal leaders across multiple lines of business, identifying risks and potential obstacles and prioritizing projects * Guide resolution of complex issues by sharing client concerns with business leaders, tracking problems and providing comprehensive issue analysis * Guide delivery of effective and accurate client services by collaborating with cross-functional internal support teams to resolve client issues, manage client requests and ensure success of service enhancements, ad hoc projects and change management initiatives * Review of employer plan documents and amendments for alignment with Policy language; lead collaboration efforts to determine rate or policy term impact and evaluate risk to business operations and loss ratio * Draft policy limitations language based on interpretation of plan documents and work directly with producers to explain revised terms; gather approval and ensure appropriate and timely delivery of final policy and underwriting requirements * Develop working relationships with external production partners to ensure high level communication on policy issuance requirements * Formulate, affect, interpret and implement policy procedures, guidelines, strategic imperatives and product updates; draft procedural and endorsement language to be approved / signed off on by Underwriting and Product Compliance as necessary * Consult and advise management of trends in employer plan language and data quality of required reporting and final underwriting requirements; monitor policies and ensure changes in rates, terms, medical management and claims are handled with minimal risk to the organization * Pursue and maintain qualifications and continued education in the areas of related state and federal regulations * Develop strong underwriting knowledge and assist with final underwriting requirements * Contribute to a positive work environment by demonstrating cultural expectations and influencing others to reward performance and value "can do" people, accountability, diversity and inclusion, flexibility, continuous improvement, collaboration, creativity and fun Required Qualifications Education: High School Diploma/GED Experience: 4 years relevant experience Preferred Qualifications Education: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience Experience: Account management experience; customer service experience; experience in the insurance servicing industry; experience building relationships with external clients; increasing levels of responsibility Licenses/Certifications: Health Insurance Associate (HIA), Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS), Registered Employee Benefits Consultant (REBC), or Registered Health Underwriter (RHU) Preferred Knowledge * Advanced knowledge of policies, best practices, and procedures related to customer care and insurance tracking operations within area of responsibility * Applied knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel * Basic knowledge of policies and best practices for providing effective customer service and representing the organization to external sources by phone, in person, and through email * Advanced knowledge of proposed terms and plan language to ensure compliant policy issuance, endorsements, cancellations and reinstatements * Advanced knowledge of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) * Develop working knowledge of department goals and business objectives and contribute to best practice development to support the objectives * Experience in insurance policy and compliance.
