Position Summary

Reporting to the Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer (CDIO), this position supports the overall function of the Office for Inclusive Excellence (OIE) by managing projects, managing business operations, performing other administrative functions, organizing communications, and being a nexus between all OIE functional areas. The position provides a combination of administrative support and project coordination and, therefore, will also engage with inclusive excellence across parts of the institution.

The ideal candidate will have some interest in, experience with, and knowledge of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging, along with superior organization and project management skills.

This position requires work to be performed in person at a designated campus work location.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead and assist with coordinating projects across the OIE.

  • Manage OIE business operations and administrative functions (ordering through SHU eBuy, catering, purchase card reconciliation, managing OIE office suite needs, etc.).

  • Coordinate communication with the OIE team, including extended teams such as the Inclusive Excellence Advisory Council and the Inclusive Excellence Fellows.

  • Manage OIE marketing initiatives, including submitting updates to the OIE website to university web designers, managing social media platforms, creating quality flyers, and developing the OIE newsletter.

  • Coordinate OIE global emails and major OIE reports.

  • Assist with collecting, analyzing, and reporting data across the OIE.

  • Assist with the implementation of the Pioneer Plan for Inclusive Excellence (DEIB strategic plan).

  • Act as CDIO designee to lead the SHU Employee Resource Group initiative.

  • Support the CDIO in scheduling meetings and other initiatives.

  • Supervise OIE student employees.

  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, & Other Attributes

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree required

  • A minimum of two years of experience managing operations and administrative tasks for an organization

  • Some related experience with diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging initiatives

  • Some demonstrated knowledge of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging principles

  • Must have excellent written communication, analytical, and organizational skills

  • Ability to successfully coordinate programs and collaborate across functional areas

  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information

  • Ability to create quality spreadsheets, flyers, newsletters, forms, etc.

Preferred:

  • Experience in a higher education institution.

  • Direct experience in leading diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging initiatives.

Unusual Working Conditions

May require working some nights and weekends.
