POSITION SUMMARY The incumbent is responsible for supervision of the front office staff and maintaining the functioning of all front office duties. Front office duties include, but are not limited to: ensuring patients and visitors are greeted in a friendly and timely manner, managing telephone communications, scheduling appointments, consults, and referrals, obtaining accurate demographic and insurance information from patients and other healthcare providers, as well as creating and editing schedule templates.

In the capacity of a non-patient care patient population coordinator, the incumbent is responsible for reviewing charts against a checklist to identify deficiencies in documentation of the care plan components that may impact continuity of care. She/he communicates with patients to avoid gaps in quality measures. She/he maintains searchable logs reflecting practice efforts to improve patient outcomes.

The incumbent contributes to the care team huddles by highlighting patients with improvement opportunities on the daily schedule per payer reports. The employee functions in a normal office environment with minimal exposure to chemicals or communicable diseases. The majority of time is spent sitting, standing, and walking short distances.

A significant amount of time is spent performing repetitive motions of hands and fingers. LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED N/A SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL AND SKILL COMPETENCIES REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION A high school diploma or GED as well as a minimum of one year medical office experience is required (clinic experience strongly preferred). Must possess the ability to operate standard office equipment. Must be able to communicate professionally and effectively with all customers.

Must be able to maintain composure when confronted with fast-paced and stressful situations;. Must be able to work independently, prioritize clinic needs, be extremely detail oriented, adept at multi-tasking, and a strong team-player . Must have the ability to learn moderate and/or advanced computer software. Must be flexible to work varied hours as needed. Bilingual skills encouraged but not mandatory.

SUMMARY The role of the Patient Account Representative reports to the Office Manager. This position must be knowledgeable of various insurance regulations and requirements, including Federal and State guidelines. This position serves as the back-up for the surgery registration clerks, admitting clerks and cashier positions. Travel of less than 15 miles is required once a week and will require proof of vehicle insurance. This position spends the majority of time sitting (up to 80% of work time) with frequent walking of short distances (up to 20% of work time) as well as lifting and walking up/down stairs. RESPONSIBILITIES * Responds to incoming inquiries using a variety of methods, including answering phones * Records patient messages and documentation * Reviews all inpatient and observation accounts ensuring accuracy and completeness of demographics and billing information * Prepares accounts for billing and processes payments * Contacts insurance companies to verify insurance eligibility and benefits * Uses resources provided by company, including online resources, to verify insurance eligibility and benefits * Pre-registers all patients scheduled for inpatient or outpatient services and establishes appropriate payment arrangements with patient or guarantor * Provides self-payment quotes * Performs collection responsibilities, including collection of co-pays and past balances * Reviews medical necessity for all outpatient Medicare pre-registrations * Medicaid eligibility and PCP referrals * Provides and obtains VA authorizations and secondary authorization requests * Scans and maintains records * Processes and sorts electronic faxes * Places patients in appropriate exam rooms * Completes screening on employees, patients, and visitors for illness related symptoms upon entry into the facility * Assists with cleaning and daily maintenance of patient areas * Other duties as assigned by leadership Qualifications * Education: High school diploma or GED * Licensure and Certifications: N/A * Experience: At least one year office or healthcare related experience Washington Regional Medical Center Fayetteville AR
