Position Summary

Assist with the day-to-day operations of the Student Learning Centers. Assist students and instructors by providing administrative and clerical customer service oriented staff support to the Writing Tutoring Center (WTC), Math Advising Resource Center (MARC), the Business Education Center (BEC) and the Supplemental Instruction Program (SI Mentors and Leaders).This position reports to the Director of the Math Advising Resource Center (MARC) and Business Education Center (BEC).

  • This recruitment is to establish an applicant pool for future vacancies. Individuals will be contacted as vacancies occur.

Essential Functions

  • Provide excellent customer service, greeting students and instructors and maintaining a professional, friendly environment.

  • Help students to access on-line instructional tools.

  • Answer the phone in a professional, courteous manner.

  • Participate in tutor training, including staff meetings and/or workshops to improve/retain skills.

  • Check email and other correspondence from head staff daily and reply as necessary.

  • Assist head staff with special projects (generating content, creating handouts and other materials, assist with data collection, etc.) to contribute to the growth and enhancement of the center's programs.

  • Follow all policies and procedures for the department.

  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent.

  • Currently an enrolled student.

  • Clerical and customer service experience.

  • Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets and Power Point.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in an academic setting.

  • Experience working with at-risk or underrepresented students and/or adult learners.

Conditions Of Employment

  • Successfully pass a criminal history background check prior to employment.

  • Regular and predictable attendance.

  • Proof of completed COVID-19 Vaccination is required upon hiring and employment at TCC.

  • Fluency in technology, including experience with Word, Excel, Power Point, and Onedrive.

Terms of Employment

This is a part time hourly position scheduled to work varied hours during the weekday afternoons and early evenings, up to 16 hours per week. The salary is $16.00 per hour. Flexibility in scheduling is required to meet department needs. A collective bargaining agreement exists and membership in the Washington Federation of State Employees or payment of a service fee may available upon employment.
