The Bibb County School District is now accepting applications for Office Clerk. JOB SUMMARY:

Performs clerical and office functions related to the support and operation of a school. Performs related office and clerical functions such as answering telephone, acting as receptionist, data entry, and bookkeeper. This is a basic clerical position which requires some initiative and independent judgment.

May be required to operate a variety of office equipment including: typewriter, personal computer, copy machine, calculator, telephone etc. REPORT TO: Principal QUALIFICATIONS: 1.

High school diploma or equivalent is required. Completion of a recognized secretarial training program or related coursework is desired. 2. Minimum of six (6) months of experience in clerical work is required.

Typing skills required. NOTE: Skills assessment examinations will be administered. 3.

Experience working with personal computers and various types of computer software (word processing, and/or spreadsheet programs such MicroSoft Word, Access, Excel, etc.) is desired. 4.

Good communication and public relations skills required; experience working with children is desired. 5. Ability to work independently, under pressure and meet deadlines is required. Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos'. Ability to write and edit simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers common fractions and decimals.

Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and correctly use calculators. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Ability to type. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.

Ability to take and understand instructions. Must possess good organization skills and filing ability. Must be technologically adept and literate.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and use hands to finger, handle or feel. The employee is occasionally required to walk; sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.

The employee must occasionally life and/or move up to 10 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. SALARY/TERMS/BENEFITS: 1. 200 DAY WORK YEAR; 8 HOURS PER DAY. 2.

Salary Range: Grade 35 $16.32 - 18.40 hourly (placement on salary schedule based on years of related experience). The stated salary range reflects the opportunity for pay over the course of the employee's tenure. For External Candidates, the top salary is not a potential starting salary. 3.
