LEAD Charter School, NJ's first alternative charter high school, seeks an exceptional educational leader to join its community of educators. The mission of LEAD is to enable students ages 16-21 in grades 9-12 in Newark, NJ to master the essential skills crucial for success in postsecondary education, career, and community leadership within a global society. LEAD implements the Opportunity Youth Network (OYN) school model. Key design elements support the unique academic and non-academic needs of students who have disengaged from traditional schooling. The innovative OYN model re-engages young people via active participation in rigorous and relevant content, and standards-driven, competency-based instruction aligned with emerging market demands. Through applied learning opportunities with partner organizations and corporations, LEAD prepares students to compete in the local economy and/or transition to postsecondary education.

The Office Associate at LEAD Charter School is often the first staff member to welcome visitors. For this reason, s/he is an invaluable member of our school community. S/he understands the interplay between students, parents, teachers and staff better than most on campus and therefore serves as a constant resource and guide to all. The Office Associate plays critical roles on many teams including, student enrollment, registration, guidance, and operations. The Office Manager serves as a model for all LEAD Charter School students by bringing to life all the values and characteristics needed to educate our future leaders.
REPORTS TO: Manager of Operations
Qualifications and Certification
Relevant experience, Bachelor's degree preferred
Urban school-based work experience preferred or demonstrated a commitment to closing the achievement gap
Strong working knowledge of office equipment and computer programs such as Microsoft Office
Success developing and maintaining relationships with external stakeholders
Firm commitment to and belief in LEAD Charter School's mission
Excellent verbal and written communication
Demonstrated ability to multitask effectively and prioritize strategically
Openness to feedback and willingness to take personal responsibility

Responsibilities
Team with the Office Manager to answer phones, take messages, and relay messages
Team with the Office Manager to maintain all student attendance and lateness
Make phone to late or absent students
Track tardiness and absences
Provide administrative support for member of the Administration to create schedules, make copies and carry out other administrative tasks
Collaborate with the Office Manager to receive and distribute student bus tickets store and disbursement of school mail
Maintain the school mailing system by check for mail in the building, updating staff mailboxes, and notify the proper personnel
Maintain the cleanliness of the office
Team with members of the Operations team to general student reports
Teach and enforce the school-wide, clearly defined systems, structures, and rules.
Work collaboratively and participate actively in faculty meetings and in professional learning teams.
Complete administrative tasks in a timely manner.
Perform other tasks as may be assigned by the School Leaders.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
12-month employee. Salary to be recommended by the school and approved by the board.
EVALUATION
The performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with the board's policy on evaluation.
