Job Description and Duties

This position is located in the city of San Diego.

This position will be open Until Filled with the following cut off dates for review on: 06/06/2024, 06/21/2024, 07/07/2024.

Under the general supervision of the Staff Services Manager I - DOS, the Office Assistant (General) functions as the receptionist for the District Office. Must follow written and oral directions, provide clear and specific instructions to the public and maintain a neat front office appearance and work area.

The San Diego District is responsible for service delivery of Federal Title I Vocational Rehabilitation Services Program. The services assist eligible individuals in achieving their employment goals by providing services such as assessment, training, assistive technology, supported employment, and job placement support. District staff will also conduct VR functions, including but not limited to provision of referral and information to interested individuals, eligibility and priority for services determinations of applicants for services, development of Individualized Plans for Employment (IPE) for eligible individuals, coordination of IPE services, and provision of post-employment services for consumers who find and maintain jobs as a result of Department of Rehabilitation (DOR) services.

  • The receptionist must have the capacity and desire to learn lots of new facts, details, and processes.

  • Familiarity and working knowledge of Microsoft applications including Outlook, Word, and Excel.

  • The receptionist must maintain a neat appearance and organized work area, as the reception desk is in constant public view.

  • The receptionist must also be able to flex between daily routine and frequent interruptions and changes in work priorities.

  • Ability to interact in a team environment with consumers and coworkers in a professional manner, and with integrity and respect.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively organize work and multiple projects with competing deadlines to complete assignments in a timely manner.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
