Under general supervision processes and inputs Safety Education class notification information for supply requests, Conservation Police Officer (CPO) attendance forms, input into IRACN database, update class information on the web-page; works with field staff and volunteer instructors to make sure information is correct and current. Serves as receptionist for the Safety Education Section; responds to inquiries both technical and non-technical in nature in person, by telephone, electronic and/or written communication from the public concerning safety education classes; composes correspondences/e-mails to public regarding section programs, policies and procedures; communicates class inquires to the appropriate section field staff; receives and directs callers and e-mails to sources of specialized information; searches micro-fiche files for student information to be inputted into the data system for replacement certification requests; issue underage student's certifications for Snowmobile and Boating classes.
Processes class rosters bi-monthly; enters and maintains volunteer instructor activity information into the record keeping database for all four programs; re-certifies instructors quarterly (requires mailing of notices every three months); Runs computer printout of instructors due to receive awards and issues certificates and awards on a quarterly basis; Responds to various requests form field staff regarding instructor service time, activity and contact information; Log CPO class attendance hours in database. Prepares various statistical reports and printouts for section supervisor and field staff such as the number of instructors certified in each county for each program for the year; number of students in all programs per regional area; number of instructors, master instructors, male or female in each region. Processes training and workshop registrations for instructor trainings and related workshops; maintains instructor training and activity data / reports.
Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of high school and one year of related office experience; working knowledge of alpha-numeric sequencing; working knowledge of office practices, procedures and programs; working knowledge of grammar, spelling and punctuation; working knowledge of basic mathematics; ability to follow oral and/or written instructions; ability to operate commonly used manual and automated office equipment and performs routine maintenance; requires ability to type accurately at 35 wpm; requires a valid driver's license.
