Part-time (19 hours per week, No Benefits)

Salary: $11.00 per hour

Special Notification: This position is exempt from state classified service and the rules of the Idaho Division of Human Resources.

Agency Description: The office of the State Appellate Public Defender provides appellate and post-conviction representation for indigent defendants pursuant to Idaho Code 19-868.

Example of Duties

The office assistant performs a wide variety of support functions that enable the agency to function effectively. This is a part-time position with scheduled hours Monday through Friday from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Answer, screen, and route a high volume of telephone calls;

  • Organize, file, and maintain opened and closed case files;

  • Photocopy and prepare briefs and correspondence to be mailed or filed in court;

  • Go on run to courts and the Statehouse mail room; and

  • Assist support staff as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications

The successful candidate will have a clean driving record for the past three years, proof of valid insurance, and a reliable vehicle. Gas reimbursement will be based on the State of Idaho per diem reimbursement rate set by the Board of Examiners.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

The ability to maintain client confidentiality is a must. The successful candidate must be detail-oriented, have experience operating basic office equipment including copy machines and fax machines, as well as have a working knowledge of using Microsoft Office Suite products including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
