The Department of Administration, Office of Information Technology, is recruiting for an Office Assistant 2 in Anchorage!

The position is in the General Government Unit (GGU) at a range 10.

This recruitment has been extended to allow for a larger applicant pool. Applicants who have already applied need not reapply.

The OIT Business Office provides administrative support in the accounting, human resources, budget, and procurement needs of the division at all levels including executive leadership, managers, and peers. We provide efficiencies in the organization based upon our adaptations of current statutes, laws, policies and procures into processes for a fluid organization.

Where You Will Work:

The Atwood building is in beautiful downtown Anchorage. Walking distance to many shops, eateries, bus and train depot, the port of Anchorage, the Anchorage Museum and the 5th avenue Mall.

What You Will We Doing:

You will provide full administrative support for the Department of Administration, Office of Information Technology, Anchorage Executive Offices. Tasks to accomplish this mission include greeting visitors, answering phones, receiving, and distributing mail, monitoring office supplies, and compiling requests for order preparations. Process payroll entry for executive level staff.

You will also gain experience in the State's travel procedures as you act as the executive travel planner, to include preparing travel approvals, coordinating with the Shared Services of Alaska team to finalize and book travel itineraries, and collection of travel receipts to submit for the travel finalization process.

You will maintain executive calendars, arranging for meeting spaces as needed, prepare meeting materials.

High school diploma or the equivalent.

AND

One year of experience that includes clerical tasks such as greeting clients, answering phones, typing, filing, sorting mail, entering data, receiving payments, making change, or maintaining logs.

Substitution:

Education from an accredited college may substitute for the required experience (3 semester hours or 4 quarter hours equal one month of experience; 150 hours of vocation education equal one month of experience).

Special Note:

"High school diploma equivalent" means one of the following: 1) a G.E.D.; 2) completion of any basic adult education course equivalent to 480 class hours (16 weeks at 30 course hours per week); 3) acceptance in full standing by an accredited college or university; 4) highest grade of school completed plus an amount of paid or volunteer experience that totals 12 years and includes basic clerical tasks such as greeting clients, answering phones, typing, filing, sorting mail, entering data, receiving payments, making change, or maintaining logs.

Some positions in this class may require the incumbent to operate motor vehicles. Such positions require that the applicant possess a regular driver's license and be 18 years of age or older.
