The Alaska Psychiatric Institute (API) is seeking to fill three (3) full-time Office Assistant I positions in our Recovery Center. The individuals hired will help to drive the vision of API which is to provide an excellent experience for patients, families, community supports, students and staff with quality treatment and best practices in mental health care.

This position will:
Prepare, assemble, maintain, audit and secure patient medical records on the unit.
Assist with admissions and discharges including preparing documents and contacting necessary departments.
Regularly inventory unit stock and obtain equipment and supplies.
Assist patients in processing valuable and personal property per established Nursing Department Procedure.

Skill in communicating, verbally and in writing on daily basis through interactions with a diverse cross-section of people, organizations, and a wide range of personalities.
Experience adhering to patients' rights and regulations as they pertain to confidential information and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
Experience working with others to adapt to changing priorities and work on multiple projects with overlapping or conflicting schedules.
Experience with organizing and planning record-keeping and filing systems, as well as the ability to search for and retrieve requested documents or information.
Skilled in reading, comprehending, and applying written and verbal materials, instructions, and/or procedures to specific situations.

High school diploma or G.E.D.;
Acceptance in full standing by an accredited college (this includes acceptance in a concurrent enrollment or dual enrollment program);
A Career Readiness Certificate with ACT WorkKeys scores of skill level 3 or higher in: Graphic Literacy (formerly Locating Information), Applied Math, and Workplace Documents (formerly Reading for Information).

"Acceptance in full standing" means acceptance to a post-secondary program by a college or university and does not require enrollment or participation in the program.
