TrustPoint Hospital is a 217-bed, state-of-the-art treatment center providing comprehensive medical and psychiatric services on both inpatient and outpatient bases. We deliver exceptional care to patients needing acute physical medicine and rehabilitation, adult, adolescent, geriatric psychiatry, and medical psychiatry.

Shift Hours: 8 AM - 4:30 PM (days vary)

Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • Observe patients before, during and after therapy, noting status and reporting it to the occupational therapist or clinical supervisor. Help patients do therapeutic activities, such as stretches and other exercises.

  • May lead children who have developmental disabilities in play activities that promote coordination and socialization.

  • Assist occupational therapists in providing therapy to patients.

  • Encourage patients to complete activities and tasks.

  • Teach patients how to use special equipment, which may be needed for daily living activities and to use devices that make daily living activities easier.

  • Document timely, accurate and appropriate clinical information in medical record and systems, as required by practice or organizational policy.

  • Collaborate with other staff in working with the population of the facility to treat, rehabilitate and return paients to the community.

  • Communicate clearly and effectively to patients, their family members, guests and other members of the health care team.

  • Comply with organizational policies, procedures, performance improvement initiatives and maintain organizational and industry policies regarding confidentiality.

  • Demonstrate a positive, empathetic and professional attitude towards customers always. When patient needs are not met, acknowledge and work to resolve complaints. Recognize that patient safety is a top priority.

  • Perform other functions and tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

Education/Experience/Skills:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university as an Occupational Therapy Assistant or similar field acceptable for licensure required.

  • One or more years' experience working with the population of the facility preferred.

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Current active professional license or eligible for endorsement by the state in which the facility provides services.

  • CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).

  • First aid may be required based on state or facility.
