Occupational Therapist

The Occupational Therapist evaluate and treat patients who require occupational therapy intervention. Occupational Therapists deliver direct patient care, utilizing physical agents and therapeutic techniques, as prescribed by a referring physician, to maximize a patient's recovery.
Responsibilities:
Employee aids in the orientation of new employees
Able to determine appropriateness of therapy and contacts physicians to clarify or modify order when necessary.
Delivers direct care to patients/residents, utilizing physical agents as prescribed by a referring physician.
Recognizes patient/resident educational capabilities and limitations and utilizes available resources.
Able to provide verbal and written educational material to patient/resident when appropriate. Assists other therapists as required.
Recognizes the need for involvement of other disciplines.
Attends interdisciplinary patient/resident care plan meetings.
Recognizes patient/resident discharge needs.
Performs and records initial occupational therapy assessments, daily clinical notes, re-assessments and discharge summaries in a timely manner
Requirements:
B. S. Degree in Occupational Therapy
Licensure and Registration in New York State, NYS Abuse Test (if applicable); BLS Required
Effective verbal and written communication, teamwork, patient-centeredness, dedication to compliance and best practice, listening and collaboration, ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
