Job Description

Ben Samuels Children's Center is seeking an Occupational Therapist who is passionate about working with children with special needs and their families. The position is per diem and on site at the Ben Samuels Children's Center. Candidates must have strong written and oral communication skills, an interdisciplinary background, and experience or willingness to learn how to work in an inclusive preschool setting. A deep knowledge base of working in a collaborative, transdisciplinary model with Physical Therapist, Speech Therapists, Special Educators, Music Therapists, and Dual-certified classroom teachers is essential.

The work also requires an understanding of sensory processing and integration, ability to complete and assess screenings, ability to complete evaluations and interpret testing/evaluations. Therapists must be comfortable "pushing" services into classrooms AND providing treatment as needed in a sensory gym. Therapists also have to be able to engage in high quality consistent coaching and mentorship of the Special Education Teaching Assistants (SETAs), monitor their understanding of individual goals and strategies and support their growth, as well as growth of the children. Therapists who are influenced by or follow play-based interventions and/or DIR Floortime model are preferred.

Vaccinated status must be disclosed and candidates must follow COVID health and safety protocols (handwashing, sanitization procedures, weekly/bi-weekly COVID testing if needed).

• Per diem hourly rate (commensurate with experience)
• Anticipated hours: 8:30am

• 1:30pm or two days per week (10-15 hours weekly)

• 1099's are issued; taxes are the Occupational Therapist's responsibility
