Job Description and Duties
Provide initial Occupational Therapy evaluations and direct services to students who are referred by their Educational Team. Prepare and present written reports to student Individual Educational Plan Team meetings.
Conduct classroom observations and consult with teachers and parents to provide suggestions for classroom accommodations that will enable a student to be more successful. Provide ongoing and follow-up consultation services to teachers and parents. Participate in Individual Educational Plan (IEP) meetings when needed.
Develop and keep track of assessment plans and timelines. Communicate with the Office Technician and IEP Coordinator when an IEP meeting is needed. Conduct workshops and in-service training for teachers and parents to educate and enhance understanding of Occupational Therapy issues. Provide both formal and informal consultative services to school staff, and also to parents and professionals in the community.

The California School for the Deaf, Fremont CSDF) is one of 6 State Special Schools under the Department of Education. Located on a 96-acre campus shared with the California School for the Blind, and the Diagnostic Center, North, we are a short walk from BART and have free employee parking.

Desirable Qualifications
In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
1.A Master of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy.
2.A license issued by the California Board of Occupational Therapy License.
3.Fluent in American Sign Language.
4.Experience working with Deaf and Hard of Hearing Students and knowledgeable of Deaf Culture and American Sign Language.
5.Ability to establish and maintain a courteous and cooperative working relationship with children, families and co- workers.
6.Ability to prioritize work and complete assignments on time.
7.Ability to be flexible and responsive to various situations that may come up.
