Job Description: Twin County Regional Healthcare
Education and Experience:
Graduate of an AOTA OT program or equivalent. NBCOT registration and current licensure or ability to obtain in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Completes obligatory hospital in-services and continuing education for licensure.
Performs comprehensive patient evaluations and re-evaluations consistent with patient needs and capabilities.
Selects appropriate activities suited to patient's physical, mental, social abilities and adapts program in response to patient and/ or family goals.
Provides quality in and outpatient occupational therapy treatments.
Educates and provides effective communication skills with patients, family members, and inter-dept. staff as needed.
Documents patient treatments daily, submits quarterly status reports, and completes D/C summaries.
Schedules patients, or assists secretary with, in relation to customer service policy.
Communicates with physicians on a regular basis concerning pt. treatments, response to care.
Fabricates and designs adaptive equipment/splints as needed.
Supervises students as needed.
Plans and initiates treatment programs in accordance with OT's scope of practice.
Demonstrates proper respect and attitude towards customers and co-workers. Displays courtesy, professionalism and sound communication skills.
Maintains work area and equipment with appropriate infection prevention techniques.
Follows up with patients that no-show or cancel appointments by phone, documents appropriately.
Attends monthly staff meetings, coordinates care planning as needed with other disciplines.
Assists teammates with patient care coverage when needed.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
Be able to tolerate sitting/standing for periods up to 45-60 minutes for treatment, documentation or meetings.
Standing and walking often throughout the day depending on schedule in the office and hospital, climbing stairs not necessary, although may be done to reach various floors in the hospital.
Walking intermittently throughout the hospital and clinic on various surfaces.
Lifting-regularly assists with transferring patients in the hospital or clinic from stand by-to maximal assistance up to heavy weights.
Bending- regularly to care for patient and ADL duties.
Reading and writing to follow job description.
Exposure to infectious diseases-occasionally, exposure to hazardous waste-rarely.
