The Occupational Therapist uses advanced evaluation skills and analytical insight to determine a patient's physical, cognitive and perceptual functional capabilities. The Occupational Therapist is responsible for age appropriate treatment service that provides goal directed activity to facilitate each patient the maximum level of independence in daily living tasks.
The Occupational Therapist is responsible for supervising and participating in the application of a wide variety of therapeutic techniques for the rehabilitation of patients with physical disabilities, injuries, diseases and cognitive deficits. The Occupational Therapist assists the Senior Occupational Therapist in providing high standards of professionalism, participates in direct/indirect care to patients of all ages, but primarily adults with physical and/or functional limitations. The Occupational Therapist participates in quality improvement and departmental operations and consults with medical staff as needed. The Occupational Therapist supervises treatment rendered by the Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant(s) and ensures quality service and supervision.
Education: B.S.degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited college or university
Licensure/Certification: Certification by the Board ofRegistry of the American Occupational Therapy Association; Current Occupational Therapy license in the state of Georgia; BLS - American Heart Association. Certification in modalities preferred.
Experience: Thorough knowledge of theprinciples, methods, materials, and equipment used in the filed of OccupationalTherapy; Ability to establish and maintaineffective relationship with patients and to obtain their cooperation in thetreatment prescribed; Ability to establish and maintaineffective relationship with the medical staff and other personnel; Ability to understand, interpret andacknowledge physician's written orders and oral directions and to recommendtreatment programs and outline expected benefits regarding Occupational Therapy; Considerable knowledge of thepossible hazards to patients during treatment and considerable knowledge ofprecautionary and remedial measures
