Adult Outpatient Therapy

The Occupational Therapist-Pd will:

  • Evaluates and assesses each patient utilizing various objective tests and measurements and clinical observations, as appropriate to the ages of the patients growth and development through the life cycle factors (Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults, Geriatrics).

  • Develops proper therapeutic treatment plan for care and anticipated out come for each patient in accordance with a written and signed Physician's order or prescription, as appropriate to the ages of the patients growth and development through the life cycle factors ( Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults, Geriatrics).

  • Designs a creative and appropriate treatment plan of care based on identified impairments, problems, and goals.• Performs treatment plan of care through the use of various therapeutic exercise programs, positioning, and facilitation techniques, mobilization techniques, static and dynamic splinting and patient/family/caregiver education and training to assist patients in reaching their maximum performance levels and achieve outcomes as appropriate to the ages of the patients growth and development through the life cycle factors (Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults, Geriatrics).

  • Documents initial assessments, reassessments and progress notes for each patient in accordance with established department policy and procedure.

  • Ensures all treatments/procedures/protocols are performed based on established standards; demonstrates competency in performing all treatments/procedures/protocols and use of exercise equipment within the scope of occupational therapy practice as appropriate to the ages of the patients, their growth and development through the life cycle, and with an understanding of the range of treatment needed by these patients.

  • Ensures all physiological parameters are assessed and documented as per patient need within specified time frame in accordance with established treatment plan of care.

  • Participates in clinical education programs and department educational programs in accordance with established procedures.

  • Provides supervision and clinical instruction for students from occupational therapy programs in accordance with department policy and procedure on student education.

  • Demonstrates effective and efficient time management encompassing patient care, documentation and administrative responsibilities.

  • Develops and maintains good human relations skills with employees, patients, visitors, families and medical staff.

  • Accepts feedback and responds in a manner which reflects an understanding of the feedback.

  • Maintains safe and orderly work practices and work area.

  • Performs other related duties as requested.

Requirements:

  • Requires a masters or doctoral degree, graduate of an entry-level masters or doctorate program in Occupational from a college or university accredited by the Accreditation Council For Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE).

  • Requires a current New Jersey State license and registration in Occupational Therapy or eligibility.

  • Previous experience preferred but not necessary. New graduates acceptable.

  • Requires analytic ability, use of independent judgment and sufficient interpersonal and communication skills for interaction with patients, families, students, peers and other health care professionals.

  • Requires up to three (3) months of orientation to acquire necessary familiarity with Departmental and Hospital policies and treatment procedures.

  • BLS Certification required, as approved by the American Heart Association.
