Responsibilities

Your responsibilities:

You will have the opportunity to develop specialized skills to manage chronically critically ill patients.

  • Participating in discharge planning for each patient including placement, patient/family education and adaptive equipment.

  • Supervising Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants, as well as supervising OT and COTA students.

  • Exhibiting a "customer service" attitude.

  • Instilling confidence in team members, patients and families.

  • Performing timely and accurate documentation.

  • Ensuring that all regulatory requirements are met.

  • Participating in departmental, hospital, and community continuing education seminars and in-services.

Qualifications

How you will be successful in this environment:

You will demonstrate an understanding of patient needs, ensuring that each patient feels informed and understood, as well as heard. You are passionate about providing superior quality care and you are an inventive problem solver who thrives in a dynamic environment.

  • You have a current licensure as an Occupational Therapist, as well as successful completion of the National Registry Examination.

  • Possessing a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

  • Critical Care experience in a hospital setting is a plus!

  • Having a positive, compassionate and customer-service oriented attitude.

Therapy Specialists has a wonderful opportunity for an experienced Occupational Therapist looking to work a flexible Per Diem schedule to support the needs of multiple Skilled Nursing and Continuing Care Retirement Communities throughout Central San Diego County. We provide therapy services to various Senior Service facilities and programs in San Diego from El Cajon to Escondido. We are seeking an Occupational Therapist with availability Monday through Sunday who is looking for a flexible work schedule. Position Requirements: * An active Occupational Therapist License in California * A minimum of 6 months of experience working in a Skilled Nursing setting is required * A minimum of 1 year of recent experience working in a Skilled Nursing setting is preferred * Casamba EMR experience is preferred * PDPM Knowledge is preferred * Ability to treat the following diagnoses: joint replacements, traumatic, general deconditioning, musculoskeletal injuries, stroke, neurologic issues, cardiovascular issues, cognitive issues and medically complex patients, etc. * Ability to train and supervise 1-2 COTAs at a given time Position Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: * Screening, evaluating, and providing treatment in skilled nursing and continuing care retirement communities with assisted living, independent living, home health, and campus-based outpatient services * Providing caregiver/family training, as needed * Communicating with other disciplines nursing and staff, as needed * Completing thorough documentation and managing paperwork efficiently with independence * Supervising COTAs and effectively communicating with COTAs and the interdisciplinary team regarding goals and outcomes based on plan of care Join multi-disciplinary rehab teams that are passionate about helping patients achieve their goals and return to life's activities that are most meaningful to them!
