As a team member at HCR ManorCare your duties may include, but will not be limited to:

  • Plan and administer prescribed occupational therapy treatment program for patients to facilitate rehabilitation following illness, disease, or injury.

  • Take patient medical history.

  • Discuss special equipment, such as wheelchairs and eating aids, and instruct patients on how to use that equipment

  • Sit and evaluate a patient s home or workplace and, based on the patient s health needs, identify potential improvements, such as labeling kitchen cabinets for an older person with poor memory

  • Required to develop a treatment plan for patients, laying out the types of activities and specific goals to be accomplished

  • Demonstrate exercises for example, joint stretches for arthritis relief that can help relieve pain for people with chronic conditions

  • Your main duties will be to observe patients doing tasks and ask them questions.

Qualifications

Currently licensed or registered as an occupational therapist by the state in which practicing, unless that State does not license occupational therapists or otherwise regulate the practice of occupational therapy. Is eligible to take or has successfully completed the NBCOT entry-level certification examination for occupational therapists.

Prior experience in Occupational Therapy/OT preferred, but not necessary.

Educational Requirements

Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy or a foreign degree equivalent as accepted by US Citizenship and Immigration Services or a Bachelor's Degree or foreign degree equivalent plus 5 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience.

Req ID: 171680 JOB SUMMARY Responsible for the evaluation of patients, determining plan of care and goals of treatment, participating in treatment of patients participating in treatment of patients within the scope of Occupational Therapy. Provides oversight to therapy assistants and students in following the plan-of-care and treatment of patients appropriate to the age of the patient served; provides supervision to therapy aides and volunteers. Works collaboratively as a part of a patient care team toward the best outcomes for patients. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS * Evaluates assigned patients and establishes a treatment plan and goals, using data from a variety of sources, such as patient records, interviews, observation and team members. * Completes patient treatment according to plan of care and modifies plan to meet patient needs, and updates plan as appropriate. * Completes documentation accurately, timely, according to regulatory and state licensure requirements, and within professional standards. * Collaborates with other healthcare professionals as necessary to ensure smooth continuous care of the patients. May act as a liaison with nursing, medical and other therapy staffs to facilitate problem solving and coordination of other services and act as an educational resource. * Mentors and provides oversight to new caregivers, occupational therapy assistants, and therapy aides. Provides clinical instruction and training to students. * Recommends and participates in development of new services and programs, quality improvement and monitoring activities. * Participates in staff meetings, patient care meetings, educational in-services, caregiver orientation and other professional activities. * Performs other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION: * Bachelors', Masters' or Doctorate degree from an Occupational Therapy program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education required. EXPERIENCE/TRAINING: * Specific experience in setting as described by the position posting LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: * Current state license as an Occupational Therapist required. * Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required at date of hire.
