Shift: PRN

Summary: Responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, treatment and documentation of occupational therapy for patients.


  • Reviews medical history, creates treatment plans and goals, shows patients how to use adaptive technology

  • Assists patients with disabilities, injuries or illnesses to recover and cope through the use of common, everyday tasks, demonstrates exercises to relieve pain and increase mobility

  • Knowledge of specific conditions, diseases, and treatment therapies for specific patient populations

  • Assesses patients' physical, psychological, social, and educational needs to determine level and type of care

  • Develops and maintains current patient treatment plan to include patient problems, goals, and interventions

  • Delivers care based on acuity level, identified needs, and physician orders

  • Assesses, collaborates, and coordinates patient's discharge planning needs and readiness for discharge

  • Assesses patient/family learning needs, abilities and readiness to learn and integrates needs into plan of care


  • Bachelor's degree or post Graduate degree (OT)

  • Current Missouri OT License (Occupational Therapist)

  • BLS Certification

  • Minimum 1 year hospital experience, critical care/acute care preferred

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Superior analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills

  • Team, detail and goal oriented

  • Positive, professional and empathetic demeanor

  • Ability to work flexible schedule

Performs clinical assessments and tests such as pulse oximetry, ETCO2, spirometry, and vital signs.</p></li><li><p>Responsible for routine patient follow-up contacts based on individual needs.</p></li><li><p>May need to perform on-call duties as needed.</p></li><li><p>Provides and operates various types of respiratory care equipment including but not limited to oxygen therapy, nebulization therapy, apnea monitoring, suctioning, PAP, invasive and non-invasive ventilation.</p></li><li><p>Inspects and tests equipment to ensure proper operating condition.</p></li><li><p>Prepares and maintains a record for each patient containing all pertinent information, care plans, physician prescriptions and follow-up documentation.</p></li><li><p>Responsible for accurate data entry on monitoring websites for certain respiratory equipment</p></li><li><p>Consults with referring physician regarding patient treatment, medical condition, home environment, and Plan of Care.</p></li><li><p>Participates in ongoing education and training sessions regarding respiratory patient care.</p></li><li><p>Assist with patient scheduling as needed.</p></li><li><p>Performs other duties as required.</p></li></ul><p>Minimum Required Qualifications</p><ul><li>Meets company minimum standard of Background Check</li></ul><p>Education and/or Experience</p><ul><li><p>Graduate of an accredited program for respiratory therapy is required</p></li><li><p>Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Professional Designations</p></li><li><p>Must possess a valid and current driver's license and auto insurance per Apria policy. May be required to drive personal vehicle for patient home visits.</p></li><li><p>Successful completion of Apria's respiratory therapy orientation and competency evaluation program.</p></li><li><p>Registration or certification by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
