Job Description:

We are seeking a full-time experienced Adult Acute Care Inpatient Occupational Therapist to join our Fairfax Occupational therapy team!!

The Occupational Therapist is responsible for the following:

  • perform select evaluation and treatment methods appropriate to the diagnosis, age group and patients physical and emotional status and formulates appropriate treatment plans.
  • demonstrate essential skill competencies in the use of treatment modalities, equipment and protocols.
  • performs re-evaluations according to department guidelines, adjusting the treatment plan
  • adheres to department policy regarding time-frame, form and content of written evaluations, progress notes and discharge summaries.
  • communicates effectively with patients, family, medical staff, care team members, students, supervisors and outside contacts.
  • completes all administrative tasks and other responsibilities in support of the operating unit.

Performs other administrative duties as assigned for necessary operational purposes. RESPONSIBILITIES * Provides Occupational Therapy treatments to overcome specific losses of function due to disease and injury, under an Occupational Therapist's Plan of Care, and as dictated by the Commonwealth of Virginia Occupational Therapy Practice Act. * Effectively communicates with the Occupational Therapist to clarify the Plan of Care, relay resident's progress with treatment, report any adverse effects of treatment, report medical decline or inability to follow through with recommended treatments, and offers suggestions to alter and progress the Plan of Care based on knowledge and experience with that particular resident. * Documents treatments/services according to the Rehab Department's protocols and Medicare guidelines. * Coordinates resident's treatment with nursing staff, physical and speech therapists. QUALIFICATIONS * Graduate of an AOTA approved OTA program, or possessing comparable skills to render effective treatments through other Occupational Therapy training programs, such as foreign Occupational Therapy degreed programs, as deemed acceptable by the Commonwealth of Virginia Board of Medicine * CPR certified (adult only) * May be required to lift, push, pull and move equipment, supplies, and etc. up to 25 lbs. throughout the workday, getting assistance when needed is a must!
