Occupational Therapist

The Franklin Public Schools is seeking a Occupational Therapist districtwide. Must be very knowledgeable about the special education process and school-based therapy. Successful candidate will work collaboratively with the school-based team to provide direct, individual and group therapy, assessments, and consultation.

Responsibilities:

• Evaluate referred students for eligibility for special education

• Develop integrated and functional IEP goals and objectives for eligible students

• Participate as a member of the IEP team to design supports and services consistent with the educational philosophy and goals of the district

• Provide research-based intervention and support to assist students in benefitting from special education and accessing the curriculum and life of the school

• Provide direct intervention to students individually, in small groups or within the general education classroom

• Collect data and report progress in a systematic way and per the IEP progress reporting cycle

• Consult and train staff and parents to facilitate carryover of skills

Candidates must have:

• Experience with a wide range of disabilities

• Successful experience in public school settings

• Knowledge of and experience with appropriate formal and informal assessments

• Knowledge of an array of interventions and supports

• Ability to work with a team

• Excellent oral and written language skills

• Knowledge of sensory integration strategies appropriate for a school setting

• Support inclusionary practices
