Position provides ongoing quality care to the patients referred to Occupational Therapy, including but not restricted to evaluation, assessment, treatment and discharge planning. Other responsibilities include providing appropriate information, education and training to the patient, families/caregivers; working with other team members to provide an interdisciplinary plan of care; providing home assessment visits, when appropriate; maintaining and enhancing professional skills; assisting with management and operational duties as assigned; initiating and implementing program development for the respective program. Incumbent must abide by policies and procedures of the hospital, Physical Medicine department and Maryland state laws; acting in an appropriate and ethical manner.


  • The staff Occupational Therapist exercises direct influence with the patient, family/caregivers and friends; with interdisciplinary team members; in the supervision of Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants, aides, students, and volunteers; and in educational programs within the hospital, and to the public.


  • Bachelors degree in Occupational Therapy from an American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) approved program

  • Registration with the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA)

  • Registered Occupational Therapist license by the State of Maryland

  • One (1) year occupational therapy experience in a hospital setting, (will consider student placement)

  • Current Healthcare CPR/BLS certification from an accredited provider

  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served in the program

  • Must be able to clearly and succinctly express self in English oral presentations and written reports

  • Ability to analyze data and summarize results

The therapist will work with a caseload of students ages K-Elementary who have mild to moderate disorders. Minimum Qualifications: * California Credential authorizing service as a Speech and Language Pathologist * Demonstrated knowledge and skills in the administration of a Speech and Language program. * Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred. Major Duties and Responsibilities: * Administers and interprets appropriate speech and language evaluations. * Consults with classroom teachers regarding students with communication disorders. * Consults with parents regarding methods parents can use at home to help their child with communication disorder. * Develops and administers a speech and language therapy program consistent with the needs of students and according to established IEP goals. * Consults with teachers in alleviating student's communication difficulties. * Participates in IEP and Student Success Team pertinent to students with speech and language issues. * Assists in the development of IEP goals in relation to Speech and Language. * Evaluates student progress in the Speech and Language program and communicates with parents and teachers. * Conducts regular therapy sessions, individual and groups; prepares the "goals" as part of the Speech Therapy Report on each student scheduled for therapy. * Provides speech and language screening services. * Conducts preschool speech and language evaluations as needed. * Communicates and coordinates the speech and language program with teachers, resources staff, and administration. * Develops schedules for student services. * Maintains student records and attendance reporting as required by the District. * Prepares individual case file on each pupil and those considered for therapy, including Special Language reports.
