TITLE: Occupational Therapist
REPORTS TO: Executive Director of School and Family Support
SUPERVISES: Occupational Therapy Assistants
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 185 days, 10-month unaffiliated position. Other terms set by the Board of Education.
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Provide quality school-based therapy services, which includes but is not limited to assessment/evaluation, intervention/treatment, IEP planning and implementation, discharge planning, related documentation, and communication between teachers, teacher assistant, related service providers and families.
TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Evaluate the student's ability and formulates the student's occupational profile through a variety of functional, behavioral, and standardized assessments, skilled observation, checklists, histories, and interviews
Synthesize evaluation results into a comprehensive written report which reflects strengths and barriers to student participation in the educational environment; directs program development; and guides evidence-based intervention and reviews findings with family and staff.
Develop occupationally based intervention plans based on student needs and evaluation results.
Participate in IEP/504 process, including collaboratively determining the need for occupational therapy as a related service under IDEA or as a reasonable accommodation under section 504 of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
Collaborate with other disciplines to ensure team understanding of student occupational performance strengths and needs, through evaluation, educational program planning, and service delivery.
Participate in multidisciplinary meetings to review evaluation results, integrate findings with other disciplines, offer recommendations, and develop individual education plans and intervention plans to achieve IEP goals.
Teach and train educational personnel to help student achieve his or her IEP goals.
Provides targeted, evidence-based therapeutic intervention to facilitate student participation and occupational performance within the school environment.
Monitor and reassess the effects of occupational therapy intervention and the need to continue, modify, or discontinue intervention.
Adapt and modify the environment including assistive technology and adaptive equipment and training instructional staff to meet individual needs and to help students function as independently as possible.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Connecticut Certified Occupational Therapist and credentialed by the National Board for Certified Occupational Therapists
Such other qualifications as the Board of Education may require.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
PERFORMANCE EVALAUTION: Annually by Executive Director of School and Family Support or designee
SALARY: $55,000-$75,000 based on experience
