Position Overview:

Performs evaluations, treatment, planning and implementation, and discharge planning for all patients.

Manages all planning for all patients.

Manages all assigned patients, paperwork that is associated, and aids in all department functions that are assigned by supervisor. Assists with ordering of supplies, maintaining safe environment, and aids in supervising or assignment of tasks and functions to COTA's, aids or volunteers. Will seek out continuing education and maintain effective communication with patients, family and other staff members.

Essential Functions:

a) Organizes and conducts occupational therapy programs for hospital inpatients and/or patients.

b) Occupational therapists provide direct patient care in the application of purposeful, goal directed activity in the evaluation, identification, and/or treatment of persons whose function is impaired by physical illness or injury, emotional disorder, congenital or developmental disability or the aging process, in order to achieve optimum functioning, to prevent disability and to maintain health.

c) Staff therapist will aid in process of assisting COTA and aids with assignments.

Qualifications & Skills:

a) Education: Graduated from an accredited program with a Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy.

b) Training & Experience: Successful completion of two twelve-week internships as an occupational therapy student intern. BLS required within 3 months.

c) Job Knowledge: Successful completion of Occupational Therapy Registration Exam carrying designation of Occupational Therapist Registered (OTR).

Through a unique combination of the latest in healthcare technology, experience and partnership, we continue to evolve and broaden our comprehensive services.</p><p>Position Overview:</p><p>The primary function of the Certified Occupational Therapy Assistance (COTA is to comply with all aspects of the law of Colorado Occupational Therapy Practice Act in providing occupational therapy patient services under the supervision of an occupational therapist who is properly credentialed. The COTA treats according to the initial evaluation, and Plan of Care established by the Occupational Therapist. The COTA provides patient treatment, follow-up evaluations, and reassesses treatment goals in consultation with staff Occupational Therapist.</p><p>Essential Functions:</p><p>Assists in the implementation of patient treatment.</p><p>Follows practice act, state and federal laws and provides current licensure and certifications to hospital. Responsible for professional conduct, ethical practice, and professional growth and development. Demonstrates clinical expertise in the principles and practice of occupational therapy.</p><p>Completes appropriate and compliant documentation in a timely manner per departmental policies and procedures.</p><p>Follow CMS and other insurance rules and regulations.</p><p>Completes annual competencies. Demonstrates knowledge in current treatment modalities and procedures and their safe usage and reports any unsafe condition.</p><p>Charge patient appropriately per approved plan of care and in a timely manner. .</p><p>Provides In-services and assisting in the education and training for students, self, peers. Promotes, participates and educates community (Health Fair etc.)</p><p>Meets departmental attendance and scheduling standards. Request permission for overtime, change in schedule and time off. <br><br> Demonstrates willingness to flex schedule in response to patient census. Reports to and leaves work at scheduled time, reporting these times via KRONOS with minimal errors. Attends meetings as required.</p><p>Responsible for meeting department goals, individual productivity and time management.</p><p>Participates and shares ideas on opportunities for process improvements, operations, problem solving, expansion of services, reduction of expenses or improvement in the quality of services. Assists with marketing in accordance with MMH Mission, Vision, Values and strategic plan.</p><p>Follows policies and procedures, HIPAA and Code of Conduct.</p><p>Responsible for other duties as needed.</p><p>Promotes the philosophy and mission of Montrose Regional Health.</p><p>Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.</p><p>Education and Work Experience:</p><p>Associate Degree in Occupational Therapy. Must be graduate of Occupational Therapy program accredited by the A.O.T.A and have a NBCOTA Certification. <br><br> Must hold current licensure by State of Colorado as a C.O.T.A. BLS Certification required. Job knowledge requires excellent interpersonal communication skills and understanding of management practices. <br><br> Ability to effectively communicate, verbally, and non-verbally, in a clear, concise manner. Administrative and philosophical compatibility with Montrose Regional Health. Interpersonal skills and sound judgment necessary to communicate with a wide variety of persons including patients.</p><p>The ability to make appropriate decisions based on fact and knowledge is required. <br><br> The ability to perform detailed work required. <br><br> The ability to work harmoniously with employees required. Must demonstrate the ability to maintain confidentiality and show good judgment. The ability to make decisions under pressure and deadlines required.</p><p>Physical Demands and Working Conditions:</p><p>While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, talk and hear.
