Job Summary

The Staff Occupation Therapist is responsible for the administration of rehabilitation services within their assigned clinic in a manner consistent with BenchMark's mission and values. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, evaluation/treatment of patients, keeping supervisor informed of issues/needs, supervision of COTA, regular communication with referral sources and modeling professional behavior. This position would require a CHT certification or in the process of pursuing this certification.

Duties and Responsibilities

The staff occupational therapist is expected to carry out these responsibilities in a way that maximizes quality care and operating performance within their assigned clinic.

QualificationsRequired

  • Current OT training license in the state that the associate practices.

  • Current certification by and in good standing with the National Association

  • Current CHT certification or pursuing certification

  • Minimum of Bachelor's Degree in related field

  • CPR Certified

Preferred

  • Minimum of one (1) year clinical OT experience.

  • Flexibility with scheduling and willingness to float to other clinics as needed.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Ability to model positive behavior at all times

  • Ability to organize and maintain control of work flow

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Demonstrates effective follow-through in implementing the goals/objectives of the evaluating OT and the organization as directed by their immediate supervisor.

  • Able and willing to provide quality patient care.

  • Ability to effectively communicate with others within the business office, at the clinics, and with outside contacts (patients, vendors, physicians, etc.)

  • Ability to examine processes, policies, and problems and offer solutions

  • Ability to work in a team environment

Job Summary: As an interdisciplinary team member, conducts occupational therapy activities to improve patient function and prevent disability following disease or injury, and improve patients' ability to reach maximum performance within the limits of his/her capabilities. Provides and coordinates comprehensive occupational rehabilitation care to patients through the proper utilization of evaluation, planning, education, and implementation of a treatment plan in accordance with Occupational Therapy Standards of Practice. Work includes indirect patient care activities such as; documentation, scheduling, family training, attendance at rounds, interaction with the Interdisciplinary Team, participation in staff meetings, ordering supplies, and contributing to continuous quality control and performance improvement. Incumbents are also accountable for responding effectively to legal, patient rights, safety, maintenance, and emergency situations; participating in continuing education, staff development, self-directed learning and overseeing the performance of and providing performance feedback of staff, aides, students, volunteers as requested. Essential Job Duties: * Performs patient assessment/data collection, interprets findings and formulates treatment plans. * Implements and updates therapeutic plan of care and treatment based on patient needs throughout patient's treatment/stay. * Completes all required documentation, in an accurate and thorough manner, of Occupational Therapy treatment in accordance with FHS documentation standard. Education/Work Experience Requirements: * Graduation from an accredited School of Occupational Therapy and completion of Clinical Fieldwork. * Position requires at least three (3) months prior experience in physical disabilities and a broad base of medical surgical knowledge, with case experience with the following: neurological impairments, orthopedic impairments, and critical care that demonstrates attainment of the requisite job knowledge skills/abilities. Licensure/Certification: * Current Washington State License in Occupational Therapy or a Washington State Interim Permit (valid for a maximum of 6 months unless an extension is approved by the Department Director). * Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS Certification.
