POSITION TITLE: Occupational Therapist STATUS: 182-Days; Teacher Salary Schedule REPORTS TO:

Directors of Special Services POSITION SUMMARY: The Occupational Therapist (OT) will provide support to the educational process to provide occupation-based assessments and interventions to students suspected as having a disability that impedes their access to the school environment and/or education. The OT will develop, plan, and implement appropriate therapeutic programs for identified students in accordance with the Individualized Education Plan.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Conduct occupational therapy sessions for district students as assigned. Contribute to the evaluation process including, but not limited to initial evaluations, re-evaluations, team meetings, and reviewing results with the diagnostic team.

Assess fine, developmental, sensory motor skills and functional abilities for the purpose of determining program eligibility through initial evaluations and reevaluations. Document reviews of existing data and evaluation reports in an accurate and timely manner. Develop IEP treatment plans, goals, and interventions to improve students' functional ability in the school setting in an accurate and timely manner.

Collaborate and consult with staff, administrators, teachers and parents for the purpose of providing information regarding OT plans, activities, and schedules. Maintain up-to-date, clear and concise documentation on therapeutic interventions, data collection, student attendance, consultation with staff/IEP team members, and parent contacts. Supervise occupational therapy assistants per state guidelines.

Assist in the selection and maintenance of equipment needs and supplies used for occupational therapy. Transport and disseminate occupational therapy equipment across the district. Attend professional development conferences, seminars, etc. to stay current with OT practices and convey this information received to colleagues.

Provide professional development, in-service training, and/or instructional support for the role of occupational therapy and educationally-related information. Provide all necessary reports/records in an accurate and timely manner.

Communicates regularly and effectively with students, staff, and parents regarding the progress and needs of assigned students.

Attend meetings as needed to discuss the progress and needs of district students. Travel throughout and outside of the district will be required. All other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with a variety of clienteles. Calm demeanor for handling stressful situations.

Respect for administrators, students, teachers, parents, and support staff. Possess effective interpersonal skills with the ability to interface diplomatically with administrators, teachers, and other colleagues within the district, as well as with outside professional contacts, using tact, patience, and courtesy. Possess the ability to work effectively and collaborate with various stakeholders.

Ability to accomplish tasks that are often interrupted by persons with special and/or immediate needs. Ability to report to work consistently and promptly as scheduled. BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

Valid Occupational Therapy license issued by the Missouri Board of Healing Art. Graduate of an accredited occupational therapy program. WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone/email and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle or feel objects. Some climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, and repetitive motions. Requires ability to sit and stand for long periods to complete work.

Requires ability to handle multiple tasks with frequent interruptions and ability to work in noisy, stressful, and crowded environments. The Fox C-6 School District is an Equal Opportunity Employer. " />
