The Department of Consumer and Business Services (DCBS) is a progressive business regulatory state agency dedicated to the mission of protecting and serving Oregon's consumers and workers while supporting a positive business climate. The department administers state laws and rules governing workers' compensation, occupational safety and health, financial institutions, insurance companies and building codes. The department has consumer protection and education programs, offices, and ombuds to help consumers, injured workers, and businesses.
This position is with the Oregon Occupational Safety and Health Division (Oregon OSHA). Oregon OSHA is responsible for assuring safe and healthful working conditions for Oregon workers through promulgation and enforcement of Occupational Safety and Health Regulations, and by providing education and consultation to employees and employers.
This position is represented by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU).

This position is eligible for hybrid remote work for up to 16 hours a week once the incumbent has gained the proficiency to perform work independently. The incumbent may frequently be asked to work from the main duty station office, such as during legislative session, and various offices or venues throughout the state on an as-needed basis.
Here's what you will do:
As the Occupational Safety and Health Outreach Program Coordinator, you will design and manage the Oregon OSHA statewide community engagement program efforts as it relates to the Oregon Safe Employment Act (ORS chapter 654). The statewide community includes all employees, private and public sector employers, unions, worker advocate organizations, community partners, business organizations, academia and research professionals, and other interested stakeholders across the state of Oregon.
Duties include:
Identifying and reducing barriers to access Oregon OSHA's regulatory protections and workplace safety and health services, which include enforcement, consultation, outreach, public education, and engaging diverse voices in statewide budget and policy development
Developing, collecting and evaluating both qualitative and quantitative data to measure and evaluate the performance of Oregon OSHA programs, particularly as it relates to reaching underrepresented communities
Working across the state enterprise to identify opportunities of how Oregon OSHA could improve access to worker rights and protections, statewide services, and identifying potential solutions
Meeting with underserved community leaders and representatives regularly and serving as the point of contact within Oregon OSHA for community engagement initiatives, events, and statewide reporting

Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse partners, including government agencies, community-based organizations, and workers from diverse populations
Thorough knowledge of Oregon OSHA policies and programs
Extensive experience in public speaking, providing technical safety and health training, and giving formal presentations to stakeholder organizations and workers
Demonstrated experience analyzing statistical metrics and coordinating internal resources for meeting program initiatives

Per the Pay Equity Law passed in 2017, a pay equity analysis will be conducted to determine what pay step the successful candidate will be offered. On average, candidates new to state service will most likely be offered compensation in the lower to mid-level of the salary range.
